Default Open Invite to all on SCI: BRM Race Day June 24th outside of Portland (OR)

Anyone interested in running their BRM's with the NASTE crowd?

When - Sat, June 24th
Where - Rapid Raceway (check it out here)
Schedule - Still being finalized

On the docket is running your personal Group C, Classic, and GT cars in three separate races, as well as a Trans Am IROC race with the entries from this past Tacoma 24. We will get firmer on the times and durations, but Howie has generously offered us his track for the full day.

Speaking of his track, it is literally the smoothest stretch of latex paint you are likely to ever see. It was painted and sanded repeatedly, and it shows. It is SMOOTH. Track voltage is supplied via commercial power supply and he runs it pretty hot at ~13.5V (at least that's hot to us, we normally run @10V). Timing was recently updated/upgraded to Race Coordinator.

The NASTE group likes to keep things simple. We run our BRM's (mostly) stock and on stock rubber. Our rules are documented here:

http://naste.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3876#p3876

You'll have to poke through that post to find them but they are class #3 (Gp C), #10 (Classics), and #11 (GT's). The quick summary is your car should have the stock components on it, but it can be tuned within the BRM rules. Gp C cars can run in either the inline or anglewinder configuration, and applicable anglewinder parts may be used on the inline chassis (guide, shims, etc...). We haven't run the Classics or GT's on a regular basis, so that rule set is not particularly developed at this point.

This event is outside of any of our regular racing, so we will be racing for fun and not for any championship or series points- just a day of running cars for bragging rights. If that sounds appealing to you, make arrangements to join us. We could possibly set some racing up for Fri eve if people are trekking in from afar- just let us know if you'll be joining in.

Drop a line if you have any questions.

Chris

Bumping this up in case anyone needs a reminder. Doors open at noon, racing starts at 1.

Expected order of classes:
1 - Trans Am IROC
2 - Gp C
3 - Classics
4 - GT/Open (anything goes)

Actual timing will depend on the number of racers in attendance, but you can expect to race well into the afternoon. We're out for a good time, come join us. PM me or Kidvoltage for logistics.

Hope to see some out of towners.

We're looking forward to a beautiful weather day tomorrow in the Portland area, temps expected to top out at about 100. The only thing in town hotter than that will be the on track action.

Come join us. I always like to see the competition sweat!

Sweaty hands and loose electrical connections always make for a thrilling afternoon.
