Well... I have been keeping up with the reports here. It certainly looks like enough people show up weekly. I still have the cars tuned up and I do long to race the DP, GT, and C2. Unfortunetly, just as in the past, Mondays are not good for me. I will do my best to show up but I have tried to make an appearence and it just has not worked out.
By the way, do they have that GI bridge fixed yet or is it still a traffic jam going north bound in the late rush hour?

It's a real mess if you get to the bridge after 4:30. I took River road and it was less trafic but took longer. And expect very uneven road on the bridge!

Default Race results for Saturday, 09-18-10

Yes folks, Saturday, Magnet Box Stock racing is back at Ace Hobbies.
The Races take place starting at Noon on Saturdays at 14 volts and open for practice starting at 10 AM once Ace Hobbies opens up. I would like to encourage the Occasional regulars who came and raced on Saturday's last year to come out and start racing your "Box-Stock" Magnet race cars again and see how well you do against other people at the track.

For people who do want to race, I just encourage you to be at Ace before Noon if possible as the racing will start promptly at Noon if possible because we do have some competitors that come in and have to leave early to go to work on the second shift later. You older kids (or Adults) may find that coming to Ace early would be perfect for you as you can go see your girfriends in the later part of the afternoon.

The First Races on Saturdays is usually 'Box-Stock" Scalelctric or SCX Nascars with Magnets with the only "Modification" allowed being able to change the rear tires to either "Super-Tires" Silicones or "Yellow-Dogs".

The Second Race is usually "Box-Stock" Scaleltric or SCX GT's with Magnets with the same rules as Nascars. The third race of the day if there are still some racers around interested is usually "Box-Stock" Scalelectric or SCX LMP's (LeMans Prototypes) with Magnets with the same tire rules.

The First race was Nascars with just enouth racers for a "Marshalled" race, which turned out to be a tight race.
was C-Bill with 68.70 laps
was AL with 68.65 laps
was Russ with 68.55 laps
4th was Steve with 66.85 laps (1 foot over 5th)
5th was Yellow-Dog with 66.85 laps
6th was Glitch with 65.05 laps
7th was Bag Man with 64.10 laps
8th was B.H.R. with 63.15 laps
9th was Bill with 60.55 laps
Fastest lap was 9.959 seconds by AL on White lane.

For the second race a couple of the racers left early so it became a "Crash & Burn" rules race where for every three off's would result in a track call where power is shut off and the car replaced onto the track. Every 3 off's would result in one lap subtracted from the racer's total (no matter the reason for the off). For this race Russ had been left of the Racer's list inadvertently but he took over from Glitch after two heats because Glitch had to leave for work.
was C-Bill with 72.80 laps
was Steve with 68.50 laps
was AL with 66.25 laps
4th was Glitch/Russ with 65 laps
5th was Yellow Dog with 62.50 laps
6th was Bill with 60.05 laps
Fastest lap was 9.255 seconds by C-Bill on White Lane.

While not Great, it was a good start to Saturday Racing at Ace Hobbies

The best thing to do to avoid the G.I. Bridge mess is to take the 290 to Delaware Ave. North. Deleware runs right into River Rd. You can stay on River Rd. which becomes Buffalo Ave. all the way to Hyde Park or take River Rd to Williams Rd. get on the LaSalle Express Way to Rt.62N to Hyde Park Blvd then left to Niagara St.

Default Race Results for 9/20/10

Monday night no magnet race results on 9/20/10, from Ace Hobby.

Nine racers showed up, and with a volunteer's help (Thanks Billy!) on "the button",
we ran fully marshalled races.

DP

Three drivers put up Fly DP's (B.H.R., Yellow Dog, and Al) while the rest ran Racer Sideways
cars. The usual close DP racing resulted, with the top 5 finishing within 1.65 laps of one
another. Yellow Dog's experimentation and persistance with his Fly's paid off, with a win.

1.Yellow Dog, 57.70 laps
2.Tom, 57.45
3.Russ, 56.90 (with a borrowed car - thanks Yellow Dog)-
4.Gary, 56.10
5.Ron, 56.05
6.B.H.R., 55.40
7.Steve, 55.05
8.Al, 49.05
9.Bill, 46.60

fast laps:
yellow, Yellow Dog (how appropriate!) 12.123 seconds
black, Gary 11.957
white, Gary 11.909
red, Gary 12.051
When Gary keeps his DP in the slot, we will all be in trouble!

Can Am

B.H.R., Ron, and Yellow Dog all ran Fly Porsches (model 917, 917, & 908 respectively).
Bill & Gary ran Slot-It Ferrari 312's. (Al's [rebuilt] Ferrari was tested by Gary.)
Russ, Steve, Al, and Tom entered Slot-It Chaparrals. All of the Chaparrals, as well
as 2 of the Porsches (Ron & Yellow Dog) were previous race winners, making for a
very competitive field. Russ had to retire last week's race winner early on, with wire
problems. Bill completed a personal best number of laps. Way to go Bill!

1.Tom, 58.40 laps
2.Ron, 57.10 laps
3.Yellow Dog, 56.85
4.Gary, 54.30
5.B.H.R., 53.85
6.Al, 53.15
7.Steve, 52.25
8.Bill, 51.85
9.Russ, 9.0 DNF

fast laps:
yellow, Tom 12.114 seconds
black, Russ 12.015 (The man drove only 9 laps before breaking down, and set a fast lap!)
white, Tom 11.914
red, Tom 12.177

GT

The field was heavy in McClaren's (4), with 3 Ferrari F40's, and 2 Nissan 390's. The memory
of last weeks record setting domination by Russ was still present as the flag dropped.
The field was very fast this week, with 6 drivers getting over 57 laps.
In spite of personal best GT lap totals by Yellow Dog & Tom; Russ "upped the bar" again, with
another new GT class record. Way to go Russ!

1.Russ, 60.20 laps
2.Tom, 58.95
3.Yellow Dog, 58.25
4.Gary, 57.80
5.Ron, 57.50
6.Steve, 57.05
7.Al, 56.70
8.B.H.R., 55.65
9.Bill, 42.05 (breakdown & repairs made during his first heat)

fast laps:
yellow, 11.754 seconds All by Russ!
black, 11.656
white, 11.502
red, 11.718

Thanks to all who came, and to Ron, at Ace Hobby for the track time.

Tom

I'll be blowing the dust off my Sat. magnet cars this week. Looks like I'll have to see if they still work!

Bring some Monday night no-mag cars too. After the mag guys are done we do some racing or testing.
A certain Southtowner was there with a set of quick GT1 cars and DP's. A good time was had by all.

Default No magnet race results for 9/27/10

Monday, 9/27/10, no magnet race results from Ace Hobby.

Once "Team Big Tree Road Speedway" arrived (Russ & Steve), we were able to run
marshalled (except for 2 turns) races. Thanks to Billy, "the button man", for volunteering.

DP

Yellow Dog continues to tweak his Fly DP cars (gearing, etc.) [allowed for Fly's only, in
this class]. The rest of the field was Sideways Racer cars. Russ had his own car
this week, one he persuaded Yellow Dog to part with. In a close finish, Yellow Dog
puts his Fly on top for the second week in a row.

1.Yellow Dog, 57.40 laps
2.Tom, 57.35
3.Russ, 56.05
4.Gary, 55.85
5.Ron, 54.70
6.Steve, 53.40
7.Bill, 50.40

fast laps:
yellow, Yellow Dog 12.096
black, Gary 12.101
white, Yellow Dog 12.015
red, Gary 12.220

Can Am

Ron (Porsche 917) & Yellow Dog (Porsche 908) entered Fly's, the rest of the field was
Slot-It's. Before race time, Gary alternated between assembling his (kit form) Ferrari 312,
and eating 15 hot wings. Would the chicken / fryer fat help, or hurt, his efforts?
After Russ (who won handily), the next 4 finishers were separated by .75 lap.
Gary (2nd place, and 3 out of 4 fast laps) turned down a couple of offers to buy his literally
out of the box Ferrari 312 (whether or not it had chicken grease on it). The other racers were
talking about going to Top's Market, and checking out the cooking oil section.

1.Russ, 58.25 laps
2.Gary, 56.85
3.Ron, 56.35
4.Yellow Dog, 56.25
5.Tom, 56.10
6.Steve, 54.40
7.Bill, 52.65

fast laps:
yellow, Gary 11.988
black, Russ 11.967
white, Gary 11.815
red, Gary 12.019

GT

The owner of "Big Tree Road Speedway", and Team chauffeur (Russ), was back with his
record holding Ferrari F40. The other cars were 3 McClarens, and 3 Nissans.
Russ won this race handily, and the next 4 finishers were within .85 lap of one
another.

1.Russ, 59.50 laps
2.Yellow Dog, 57.60
3.Tom, 57.55
4.Gary, 57.45
5.Steve, 56.75
6.Ron, 55.95
7.Bill, 43.55 (bad wire during 1 segment)

fast laps:
yellow, 11.723 All Russ!
black, 11.756
white, 11.608
red, 11.744

Thanks to all who came to race, and to Ron for the track time.

Tom

PS: Al & Bagman Racing, we miss you!

I'm done with the Fly Riley tweeks and here they are.
Slot Car Corner standard rear 3/32 bushings, glued in.
Slot.it axle, 24t crown, 10t pinion, 17mm big hub wheels and S2 tires.
SCC thin guide wire and a little glue to keep the motor in.
Slot.it shouldered body screws ( My last 4 DPs had a wonderful mix of body screws ).
Spacers under rear body post to keep the body off the tires.
Jeff (BHR) has opened up the area under the gear on his Fly DP much in the way Slot.it has on their pods to allow tighting of the gear. As this doesn't add any advantage, I'm OK with it.
I will run this as a rule package for the Fly Rileys past Tom on Monday for his OK.
I'm still working on the Doren DP. The Dorens Ron has all have very true front rims and tires. But the motors in my two are not as strong as the Riley motors I have.
Stay tuned!
Dan

I broke my right arm so I'll try and see what I can do with my left hand. Might need some easy corners to marshal but, I think I can do it.
