Default Fall race 3 IOE

Race 3 was run after race 4 due to attendance issues. Current IOE as of Fall race 3 at the Dartschleife:

The explanation of average IOE calculation is in previous posts (http://slotcarillustrated.com/portal...83&postcount=2 and http://slotcarillustrated.com/portal...48&postcount=8) and is not repeated here. The green-shaded values are the normalized ones we are using for determining the order.

Default Hot Stove

Some things and a milestone to think about.

First up, with just 56 points next Sunday, No Hands will become RMR’s second 6,000 point man. And by all accounts has been on a tear with 2 race day podiums in 3 races. Well, hold on....I’m not sure maybe Pauly Wanna Walnut aka “2-4” maybe has broken the 6,000 point barrier too? Maybe Shadow man can advise?

So, we’ve hit the 1/2 way point of the Fall season and with 4 rounds to come, and only counting your best 5 rounds...it’s safe to start to the Hot Stove banter, even if the snow’s not flying!

Let’s look at everyone’s best 2 races, with an eye towards taking the best 3 of your next 4 rounds ...where could that land you? Well, depends on where you start with 2 round totals.

Best Two Races Total Points, in alphabetical order:

Aaron - 242
Alan - 244 (will host another Fall round)
Bob - 242
Brad - 262 (will host another Fall round)
Danny - 220
David - 272 (will host another Fall round)
Ken - 260
Kevin - 222
Matt - 108 (1 race only, but can still race 5 rounds to wreak havoc!)
Paul - 242
Thomas - 212 (will host another Fall round)
Tom - 298

So let that sink in...David and Brad seem to be jockeying for 2nd and will race head-to-head in the next round. But lurking right there is No Hands. Also poised is a gaggle of drivers: Aaron, Alan, Bob and Paul...all separated by 2 points..yep, you read that right. But even so, there’s not much distance between them and the next group that can’t be easily made up in one round.

Now let’s look at counting your 3 best rounds to date, which means you’d only need to take 2 more rounds (out of the last 4 rounds) for your 5 best:

Aaron - 354
Alan - 356 (will host another Fall round)
Bob - 360
Brad - 262 (only raced twice; will host another Fall round)
Danny - 220 (only raced twice)
David - 398 (will host another Fall round)
Ken - 354
Kevin - 322
Matt - 108 (1 race only, but can still make 5 rounds to wreak havoc!)
Paul - 362
Thomas - 288 (will host another Fall round)
Tom - 440

Some interesting data within the data above is that Aaron (68), Ken (94), Thomas (76) and Alan (98) all have some low scores they can be easily dropping, which means as they count better rounds they’ll move up quicker than say someone like Paul who has been rock solid and steady every race. Sorry 2-4, but being consistently good isn’t a bad thing!

In the 4 years since we rebooted the club, I can’t recall it being this tight top to bottom. But it really beats out when you see 3 -4 guys race, and there’s a different heat winner every time like we saw at times today.

Well there you have...things are toight. Cheeks will be clenched, palms sweaty and marshals...well...they’ll be watching you...right Kevin?!

Tom broke 7000 points (first to do so)
Paul reached 6000 points (second to do so)
Aaron broke 5000 points (fourth to do so)

Ken reached 50 race starts (first to do so)
Matt reached 40 race starts (sixth to do so)
Thomas reached 10 race starts (fifteenth to do so)

Aldorado (October 14)
No point/race milestones

Kevin broke 4000 points (seventh to do so)
Alan broke 3000 points (tenth to do so) and reached 30 race starts (tenth to do so)

Kevin reached 40 race starts (fifth to do so)

Next race they attend

Default The Chase is on!

From what you'll see below...Tom is guaranteed 1st, Aaron sits in a solid 4th, but can't do any better given both of us are missing the next few rounds. David is sitting pretty in second as is Paul. Both control their destiny to a certain degree; however, what's clear is that almost everyone still has a shot at 3rd...some are longer shots, but it's unprecedented to have so many who can still nab 3rd this late into a season!

Default Fall Season Point Analysis

Here is a table showing the points necessary to obtain in the last race to move up the order:

The score you need to reach a place is the green or yellow value at the intersection of your row and the column for the place you would like to get PLUS the improvement the person in that place makes over their blue-highlighted score. A couple of people still have zero scores so that target score can significantly change. I checked and around half of the people who attended the first Aldorado race had higher scores than their fifth best score and half had lower so anything can happen.

E.g., to tie 3rd, Ken would need 136 points (Kenny row, 3rd place column) plus whatever score Aaron got above 112 (Aaron row, 5th best score column). If Aaron got 120 points, then Ken would need 144 points to tie, 146 points to take the place (as long as no one else outscored Aaron by more).

The following table shows the normalized IOE for each race in the schedule so far (the average IOE does not include Aldorado):

The accumulated and normalized IOE (the average to-date) for each race is in this table:

A graph of the accumulated IOE data is shown here:

Default "Fluid" is the word of the day

So the way I read what Herr Shadow has shown us is to focus on the green cells…look at your row/name, then look down the column of the place – whatever is in green for the intersection will tell you the score you need in round 8.

First up, consider you round 8 classes:
Fly Trucks
NASCAR
Group C
Group 5

Now looking back to a quick summary by place … of course, these targets are all based on the fact that those who you are chasing don’t also improve…so things are still very much fluid!

But first up, congrats to David aka The White Shadow who has officially sewn up 2nd overall. It's his first season podium and in doing so becomes the 8th club member to finish on a season podium, joining the

3rd place, the following people need in the season finale to target these scores to better their top 5 to catch (tie) Aaron:
Paul needs a 120 –round 8 contains traditionally the strongest classes for one P.Pauly Walnuts, Lord of the Buffet, Passer of the Noxious Gas who also gets the “hook” … unless B-rad is paid off not to be a no-show.
Bob needs a 130 – don’t bet against the veteran….and never corner a Badger, it ain’t pretty
Ken needs a 136 – he’s scored there this season, can he do it again?
Alan needs a 138 – 3 words … home track advantage

4th place – all of the above are in that race! Plus, with the current high water mark being Paul’s 606 at 4th right now, here’s what people need to catch / tie Paul:
Bob needs a 122 – scored a 116 last time at Al-Dorado, seems well within his grasp
Ken needs a 128 – unknown track to the man with no hands
Alan needs a 130 – home track advantage, but how much?

Now let’s look at 5th – with Bob being the current 5th place man with 598, to catch Bob:
Ken needs a 120 – right around his lifetime scoring average
Alan needs a 122 – easy peezy lemon squeezy?
Danny needs a 140 – he’s surprised us before, but he’s in tough against the Shadow who’s shown he has so many points that he throws them into the garbage
Both Kevin & Thomas need a 150 – racing side by side, something’s going to give

Turning our attention to 6th our current holder is Alan at 588, to catch Al-u-miny-um:
Ken will need a 110 – moving quickly on Al’s six
Danny requires a 130 – well within his wheel house
Kevin & Thomas both require a 140 – predicted headline, “there will be tears”

In 7th place, No Hands is hanging on for dear life, to catch him:
Danny requires a 124
Kevin & Thomas need a 134 – evenly matched Group 5 cars, Trucks, Group C cars and NASCARS between them; get your popcorn and settle back to watch the action!

In 8th, we have a battle royale with Kevin hanging on, to catch him:
Danny needs a 92 – only 1 heat vs No Hands, could go either way
Thomas needs a 102 – Two Scoops better eat an extra scoop, he’s gonna need it

The battle for the best-of-the-rest lies with resident Fly Boy B-Rad and the Bear with the Hair, Fozzy:
Fozzy needs to outscore B-rad by 38 to avoid being our cellar dweller this season….oh, how the mighty have fallen. Last Fall, Fozzy was busy mopping the floor to an easy 2nd overall.

Strange it won't let me edit my original post....David joins the likes of Badger, Kimchi, B-rad, Pauly Walnuts, Fozzy Bear and Triple T as season podiumies.

Congrats on a hard earned
