Default Friday night race results Carl B. 2-1-13

Well,

Another Friday has come and gone and that means that last night the NJ Metro Slot Car group got together for some 1/32 racing. This was the second race of the Ninco Mosler series and once again it did not disappoint. Carl (our host) knew that he needed to step us his game so that he would not be embarrassed on his own track, and boy did he. Carl had his Mosler humming.

The start saw Dave experience some issues with his car, but after a quick change managed to run nice heats with his Votrum. Matt, Don, and Tony also ran smooth, but quickly learned that on Carl's tight track you needed the "Right Stuff" to be competitive. A well balanced car (Dave's quote) with good handling and just the right amount of speed is what it takes on this track.

Bob P. seemed to have found that mix of speed and handling (Oh and he did not have the Green Gear in his car). Red seemed to be in order this night. Bob P. ran great with 106 laps, but it was no match for Carl's 109. Third with 103 was Paul P. followed in 4th by Jeff who had a 20 second penalty after finishing 2nd last week.

Congrats to Sal a first time racer. Sal is a younger racer (okay he's a kid around 12 years old) who experienced his first race. Sal ran a consistently with a total of 75 laps. Not bad considering he was running against a group of well seasoned slot car pros which would intimate most young person. Looking forward to having Sal race again with us.

Our second race was one we all love, or at least I do, Vanquish. Mario it seems is attempting to corner the market on these cars (who loves you Mario). Now he just needs one that runs well. Banging was in order as these larger cars on did pretty well on Carl's tight track. But everyone behaved and racing was close. The top racers were Jeff with 98, Paul 97, and Carl with 94 laps. Watch out Jeff, next time I won't spend time waiting around for Mario.

Remember next weeks race is at Jeff's in Cranford. So, please check the website for details on the second race.
