If you look at the 3rd picture that Ed posted in post #11, you can see the connector magnified. There are 4 tabs that hold the connector in a notch in the track. Carefully bend the tabs inward until you can pull them from the track rail. You may break 1 or 2 tabs, but it should still work.
If making 1/30's from a 1/60.... after cutting the 1/60, you will notice that 1 of the notches in 1 lane on the bottom of your newly cut 1/30 will line up perfectly for the connector to be inserted and bend the tabs back down just like it was. The other one will not line up, so you will have to cut a notch for that one.
Hope you can decipher that. I have problems posting pictures.

Yeah, that is one of my options as I have a few straight pieces that could be used a donors.
