Starting the series at RamJets a handfull plus 1 are on hand for the leadoff race .
With a late decision on the series we thought it would be easier to go with a club
favorite . Thus what better than the Slot-It Group C's . We're running the standard
spec's as in the previous series , should be a lot of fun .
WINTER KING ; Car , something we've never seen or run . Greg had this LMP
with a guide flex chassis where the guide would move side to side . Different in
and out of the turns , all and all quite a change from the norm . Great car Greg
To Greg , To Roger and To Pat
WINTER IROC ; Cars , Ninco Porsche 997's . 3 of the 4 cars were spot on as
far as being competitive and gave us some great side by side racing , with all the
cars taking turns for a win . The closest race of the night with just laps separating
each position .
To Pat , RamJet and To Greg
SLOT-IT GROUP C ; EMSA's tribute in a small way to Bruce Leven . One of the
North West's most successful race drivers . Started from humble beginnings up at
Seattle International Raceways . Then purchasing one of Peter Gregg's past 935's
and stepping to the big league . He had a successful carrier in IMSA including back
to back 12 Hour's of Sebring Victory's in 87 & 88. Bruce past last September from
cancer . RIP
To Greg , To Roger and To John Q
Thanks to RamJet for a great night of racing .
next week it's to Vic's and Victory Lane .
Pat
Heres a short article on Bruce , his journey in racing and life .
After last weeks fail I put my Taguar on the shelf and grabbed my first Slot-It
962 . It also my have been one of the first cars I painted and decaled . With
a salute to Bruce Leven how appropriate but to run one of his Bayside liveries
The 1985 car with the half blue and and pink side panels . Smokin Joe also made
it down for a run with the boys .
WINTER KING ; Car , Revo Slot Porsche GT2 . Greg's still in the leadoff spot
and after this weeks stage he'll be there for quite a wile . The car performed
well and Greg lit it up . I was next and ended up a little embarrassed being 4
tenths off the pace . As we continued , with the cleaning the tires the car just
got worse (thats our story anyway) with no one able to challenge Greg .
To Greg , To Pat and to Vic
WINTER IROC ; Cars , Pro Slot Porsche GT2's , Slot-It rear running gear and
the Gold Evo 2 motors . Great set of cars and a ton of fun to race . The lane 1
car was off a tic off the pace with the other 3 neck and neck . Some great back
and forth racing . Far to many offs for me with Joe stepping up to grab the last
step on the Podium .
SLOT-IT GROUP C ; Well my almost Vintage 962 had a heck of a night . It was
a bit of a hand full as the race went on but managed to stay in the slot . Greg's
Lancia ran strong and landed on the second step of the Podium . RamJet had a
reprieve from his off session he encountered last week ending up third .
Sorry , it's been a busy week . Tomorrow's Race is at the BrickYard .
Hope to see you there
ROUND 3 SOLT-IT GROUP C - RAINIER RACEWAYS
To Auburn and Greg's for the 3rd Round of the Group C cars . Smoking Joe
makes it 2 in a row ! Roger suffering from Jet lag just getting back from
across the pond .
WINTER KING ; Car , RamJets Fly front engine Corvette , pretty much
stock maybe some different tires . Fun car , definitely different from the
norm . Greg did his best to fall from the lead off spot but he's still on top
in the standings .
To Pat , To Roger and To Vic
WINTER IROC ; Cars , NINCO Classics , always a ton of fun . Working
very hard to get so little . Rough on the finger and sometimes the mind .
always great racing . The results are in my thumb drive but they won't
let me open them , we'll see if we can figure it out tonight .
SLOT-IT GROUP C ; A rough night of racing with plenty of offs Victor
dealing with the Sport curbing on the R1 Hairpin . Roger dealing with
his clinging Jet lag and Joe Dealing with Joe .
After spending some time over the weekend at Bob's , adding some light to the track
I couldn't wait to get there and race . Then coming to the realization I'm still only 5'6"
and can now only see what it was I couldn't see before . Thus meaning I still can't see
anything . - Still had a fun night and we all get a throw out , right ?
WINTER KING ; Car , Rogers Racer SideWays BMW M1 . Greg was finally not the first
to run but only because he wasn't there . So yours truly Lead it off and left a lot on the
track for everyone else . Roger was next and lit it up . Vic was 1 one thousandth off the
pace and the rest just fell in line . Just so you know Greg , you will still be first next week .
To Roger , To Vic and To RamJet
WINTER IROC ; Cars , Vintage Road Racers . 2 Fly cars a 908/3 and a Chevron B21
and 2 Monogram , a Chaparral and a Shelby King Cobra . Funny thing the 2 fly cars took
it to the Monogram Classics . Maybe it was the lanes that had something to do with it or
the fly's were just a bit more forgiving . Every one had a win , I'm thinking it was the 908
with Roger Leading the way this time around .
SLOT-IT GROUP C ; Well Bob was primed for this one , had his tires sliced and diced set
up to the T . After the first heat we all knew it was going to be a long night for the rest
of us . Vic had a chance but after there was a miscue on the pause button causing a heat
restart Bob had it in the bag . Went from a 3rd with 8 laps to a 1st with 16 laps and that
will win you a race . Still a great run by Bob (we will be teching your car) with 8 heat wins .
The gang made it's way South down to Dan's for the 5th round of the Group C
cars . I think everyone was looking forward to see how the Slot-It's would run
at Dan's this time around and I believe no one was disappointed except maybe
Vic in his last couple heats .
WINTER KING ; Car , John Q's Chip Ganassi , Carrera Ford GT GTE . A beautiful
car that ran very well on it's first night out . Greg lead things off with a more
than respectable Stage , I was next and fell a little short . Vic edged Greg by
6 one thousandths then Dan lit it up by nearly a tenth .
To Dan , To Vic and To Greg
WINTER IROC ; Cars , Dan's Carrera DTM's . We ran these a wile back and they
gave us a great race . Monday was no exception as the cars were so close in
most every heat . With some heats go down to the last tick of the clock . It
was a close race and should have be even closer . Sorry Dan . The DTM's
run like they were made for this track . Greg takes it by a lap .
SLOT-IT GROUP C ; After Dan's take out in the IROC race he was taking nothing
for granted in the Series segment . Posting the fastest lap , taking the most
heat win's and running the most laps . A pretty dominating performance by
our host . Vic was right in there tell the last couple heats , suffering a broken
body post running his last heat with a borrowed car .
To the Center on a Thursday for the 5th Round of the Group C cars . The
Club always enjoys the race at Alan's giving the series cars a chance to
stretch out their legs and see what kind of lap times can be put up on the
board . It's also the only venue where heat wins don't come into play , it's
all about the laps at the Center !
WINTER KING ; It's aways something different when it comes to the King
at Alan's . 6 lane , 8 lane , Drag Strip this time around it was back to the
Rally Track . Alan knows the lay out better than any of us so we let him
lead things off , didn't matter though . Greg was the only one to make
it a respectable showing from the club .
To Alan , To Greg and To Roger
WINTER IROC ; Cars , Ninco Porsche 997's . The cars gave us a great
race with most of the positions being separated 1 lap . Alan had a tough
race spending most of the segment as Smoking Joe's personal guard rail .
I may of had a fender in 1 of them .
to Pat , To Roger and To Greg
SLOT-IT GROUP C ; A big lesson was learned this week as Roger on a rare
occasion may not of been the fastest car on the track but he was the most
consistent . He showed great patience staying in the slot and getting his
laps . The rest of us fell in line with the final positions again being separated
by a lap . Great Race Roger !
To Blairs and Masenchamps for the 7th Round of the Slot-It Group C cars .
After stretching our legs at the Center , it's back to patience and timing
which is always the case at Masenchamps . Being just a bit aggressive or
off a hair on your braking can cost you heavily .
WINTER KING ; Car , Roger's Revo Slot Porsche GT2 shod with BRM's
latest rubber . The car ran well maybe just a little twitchy early on in the
Stage but got better as tires came into their own . Greg has become our
leadoff man in the King and is still holding on to the overall lead by just
over a second . A rare stage win by our Sunday cruiser RamJet
To RamJet , To Vic and To Blair
WINTER IROC ; Cars , Blair's NSR Classic Porsche 917's . The cars are
great , super smooth and plenty quick . The only problem the car in lane
3's tires had no grip to speak of and if you ran it early on it was tough .
The other 2 cars traded win's back and forth giving us the race of the night
with Smokin Joe landing on the second step of the Podium .
SLOT-IT GROUP C ; The Group C cars performed great at Masenchamps
giving us incredible heats with everyone notching 21 lap heats . I can't
remember any take outs to speak of , though minimal most offs were self
induced . The goal became hitting the magic 22 . Roger had a good shot
in the second to last heat till he came into contact with Joe on the infield .
Then it was my turn , lane 2 last heat . With the pedal to the medal all the
way it was conquered .
Sorry guys it's been a wile but I took a weekend for me . Back to RamJet's
for the second time in the Series (thanks Roger) RamJet always steps up to
the plate when needed .
WINTER KING ; Car , Roger's Vintage Cox Lotus ? Not to fast , no brakes
but a blast to run or for me to crash (Sorry Rog) I checked the next day and
Roger said nothing to serious .
To Greg , To Roger and To RamJet
WINTER IROC ; Cars RamJet's Modified Fly Porsche 917's . I not sure what
Ramjet's done with them but they ran great . Giving us a awesome IROC
finale . Just a blast every heat going to the wire , with every lane getting
a win . Thanks RamJet ! What a Series with the final Standings going to
the last round and only 2 points separating the top 3
SLOT-IT CROUP C; Another close Series segment . Roger had a tough night
loosing his tires shortly after the first heat . With the rest finding a way to
heat win's . Again it was close most the night , Vic had his shear of off's
RamJet to and I crumbled near the end . Greg held on staying in the slot
and finishing strong for the Victory .
