Default Time Frame and Price

Hi thank you for asking. The time frame for availability is now, to place pre roll out orders !You will be the first track owners to get the USB Solution if you pre order. The official roll out will be around August perhaps a bit sooner.

As to price for pre roll out ( lower than the roll out price ) we also have a roll out price...let us hold for now ....on providing those exact details.

HOW ABOUT THIS HERE IS A CALL OUT TO ALL TRACK OWNER's & SCI members, the race Community, including future track owners!!...Please let us know what you think would be a fair price for RC's & VIASUE's Plug&Play USB 4 lane system that has a built in micro processor for accuracy etc etc that is ready to go right out of the box...all you need to do is connect the provided and pre-built sensor track that we send, let the CD run the install, then & there you are ready to race professional races or just simple practice runs....it s all up to you from this point on to make or break track, car & Driver records.

What would you say or the SCI community say a USB Plug&Play system that has an updatable and upgradable built in micro processor, like we offer! So what should be the priced for a basic unit for the basics needed to run races.....?? A bare bones race system without extras like call or power relay Parts....A lean and mean ready to go racing machine !! What do you think it is worth ??

Want to turn your four lane system into an 8 lane system?? Just send us back the brain unit and we will update it to run 8 lane races with add ons such as call and power rely control & or other popular features...this is a "Truly Generational" ,upgradeable system that will not be left behind in the dust because it is be able to keep up with new technology, new windows and much more by making changes via its on board micro processor, which works with your PC CPU, Windows & Via RC race software, providing the best times ever!!

Currently VIASUE offers the best price and the best Parallel port Plug & Play 4 lane system for plastic HO track full retail 129.99 + S&H on sale price 99.99 + S&H but you will need an older style desktop or tower pc and a monitor and a standard printer port connection....

Now please consider the fair price for VIASUE's & RC's USB Solution, sporting a micro processor which plugs into any pc that has USB such as laptops and notebooks.....Please tell us the price range that seems fair to you ??

Please let us know what you think is a fair price for this long awaited, reliable and extremely accurate USB SOLUTION with a built in micro processor to help windows and your pc deliver the most accurate times and races to date... VIA RC....dare we say ever posted.....beyond .001 timing but expressed as .001, for now BUT look for .0001 or perhaps even .00001 times in the near future...that my friends is accuracy !!

Looking forward to your feedbackand the price ranges that you think would attract you or other track owners including yet to be track owners :>)
Thank you from VIASUE & Race Coordinator

Got pictures? How big or small is this microprocessor? Is it the Arduino unit? Where does it locate in relation to the sensor track or PC?

Default Pic's,Chips and Placement

Hmmmm I hoped to get from folks what they thought a USB solution for 4 lane slot car racing would be worth....a basic bare bones, no add on's, no extras such as call or power control....OH and all you have to do to use it is plug in the race hardware let the CD auto run and start racing 100% plug and play.

Pic's, chip sets, and placement will not help you decide what you think a 100% plug and play system is worth to you. Finally available after yrs and yrs of users requesting such a set up.

Ill trade you answers to your questions....if you would be kind enough to give us an idea of what you think the full retail value of a bare bones 4 lane PnP USB system should be to attract your attentions to cause a purchase, for your layout or as a gift? What do you think would be a good full retail price and a good "On Sale Price".

Here is a chance for the community to possibly effect the price of a long awaited USB Solution......

Plug it in, let the CD auto install and race.....not one tool needed,no search for a PC with printer port or worse a 9pin com port, just a USB port 100% Plug n Play :>)

At $150 it would be a no brainer.
Routed track,3 lanes......drill your own holes in the track, use supplied adjustable lightbridge(IR),no USB to serial to parallel to USB adapter plugs and such.
Does your system send a time to the PC and just let the race manager display it?

Default 150$ 3 lane DIY Kit

Thank You for your suggested price for a DIY 3 lane system with included light bridge that is adjustable for scale and lane count.....no USB to serial to parallel via USB adapter plugs and such.

For example: We can fill and order for DIY kit, 3 lane is OK, IR is doable over visible light, we have done *adjustable pillars so the clearance can be adjusted. For a 1/32 layouts...we like IR for the larger scales because we have extremely *high power IR Emitters that get a crazy amount of clearance...way more than what is required any way...* (started items add a bit of additional cost )

Your suggested sale price of $149.99 for the above DIY 3 lane Kit that runs on RC is doable + * .....

I can share that the micro processor can be programed for any reasonable track configuration and provides for *add on devices such as *call buttons and *power relay options....RC can be customized to unusual configurations such as more than one race track ..say you have a 4 lane and your friend has a 4 lane they can both be connected and you can configure them in RC as an 8 lane setup. you could have an 8 lane system and right next to it or even in the next room a 4 lane system , both could be set up in RC as a 12 lane.

The other great built in feature of having a micro processor is it can be sent back to us to be upgraded to the new configuration you now need EX:: Keeping your 3 laner but adding a 4 lane plastic track so you can run them individually and so you can run it as a 7 laner system ....the idea is for the system to be very flexible, reliable and accurate! For now all you would need to do is send us the processor box and we will upgrade the processor box in the way you want or need it....There are plans to work this out so a track owner can download from our sites the configuration or add on features you want directly to the on board processor. You want a 7 laner kit with call and power relays for controlling the main power or power to each lane individually. In the future you would just go online select the upgrades or down grades you want and let the download do its work :>). This way you do not to trade it in like an iphone or sell it as used so you can buy a new one.....the idea is make the system generational....our sensors are gen. our high power led's are gen the processor is gen..of course this requires good care and maintenance so you can pass this system onto your children or your children s children and the whole time using and reusing the same hardware, processor and software as upgraded rather than be replaced over the years :>).

As well the light bridge can be run off of the systems USB connection or if for other reasons, such as with a 12 laner setup with track control IE A walwart supply would be used instead of the usb power supply. Instead the light bridge gets plugged into the processor box external power connection.....to run the bridge.

Get this .....our sensors are seen so well by the processor that the sensors do not need a light bridge...the sensors can run off of overhead room lighting using only a 60W bulb .BUT you have to keep shadows off of the sensors....if you get shadow laps, from folks reaching over the sensors, say to set a wrecked car back into its lane....IF things like this happens than all you need to do is install the light bridge so any dark shadow is denied by the light bridge / light bar.

So the sensors do not need a light bridge to be seen. The light bridge would only be needed to deny dark shadows or if you had the sensors hidden from light as in a tunnel or under an overpass...then the sensors would need a light source to trigger the sensors.

IF you prefer IR it works the same way the IR is only being used to deny shadows but not to trigger laps even though it can be used that way for areas that cannot be reached by ambient room lighting.

BUT we feel this one feature using our specially designed sensors brings a new sensitivity that has never been seen before using common and past technologies. This configuration will also bring more accurate timing better than.001 with potential of times a fine and accurate as .00001 of a second...thats like 10% of the time it takes to blink.

The main thing we are trying to do is provide 100% Plug & Play, ready to use right out of the box. State of the art hardware and software that sells for less than DIY. For example track mate sells a 4 lane IR kit that starts at $215 + another 30$ for a serial to usb cable. Roughly $250 bucks for a DIY Kit.... which is high price wise when compared to the solid state, high power, high tech software and hardware we offer...The hardware and software is designed, in ways, that are a definite case of overkill...way better and or more than what is needed or currently offered....PnP for less than a DIY Kit...that is bang for your bucks....and it will never go out of date or be abandoned for the newest thing....such as our offering...It uses a 100% update able and upgradeable hardware and software...that can be upgraded or down graded any time during its generational life span.

It just keeps getting better VIA RC & VIASUE
Thanks for your opinion and feedback ...it is valued and appreciated :>)

VIASUE:: That would be a good price for a full Plug & Play (PnP) USB system but likely a bit more $ with a custom built light bridge ...as mentioned using our hardware and the very sensitive built in micro processor the sensors do not need a light bridge only IF you get shadow laps due to a shadow falling on the sensors.....but we do Not provide DIY light bridge kits like we do DIY cable harnesses. Only pre-built custom bridges or bars....of course you could take apart the light bridge we build and rebuild it the way you want or build one of your own.....just don't harm yourself OR melt the track by using a hot running light source other than ours &/or ours as re-engineered / redesigned by the track owner etc.

Thanks for the input it is valued and appreciated ...your in our book. Right now we can offer you a printer port system that is plug n play ready to go right out of the box, light bridge/light bar for actually less than 100$...$79.99 for HO & 89.99$ 1/32 scale plus S&H . You would need to send us your track section for the 1/32 system to be installed in to the track( if plastic)...We also compensate you by installing 15 foot pc cable rather than the default 10' if using your track brand..we donot carry 1/32 track in stock at this time.

VIASUE & RC will be "bringing IT" and or bringing I.T. (Intelligent Technologies) over the next few yrs...It's going to be a cool and very interesting event to partake in...The goal being to bring systems into todays and future generation of technologies breaking new ground as the most reliable, robust, accurate & affordable configurations...trail blazing, ice breaking are good terms, barrier breaking feel like a good one ...lol

Other SCI'ers please feel free to provide your idea of a fair or good price...this is your chance to effect a possible change in pricing.....before the roll out in August ...perhaps a bit sooner....we are taking pre roll out orders now !! Get yours before anyone else does and save big. A retail study has been done and it suggests a Full retail price of under 300$ but over 200$ for a 4lane P&P USB Solution with track call and power control options. Plug it in, run the software, reboot and race....R.O.B. ( Ready Out of the Box ) Kits of course would sell for less than P&P...unless very custom in configuration or light bar / bridge design.

The VIASUE Sales & Setup Pit Crew
Please provide your price ranges for a 4 lane P&P track configuration that uses true USB technology.....Your input is valued of course for sufficient issue a 100% cash back refund is available !!

AUGUST !!! GREAT news !! I have a 1/32 routed track. And the prices are very reasonable.
Will the arduino switches work with routed track ?
I have overhead lighting using 2 florescent bulbs so a light bridge may not be needed. But...is a light bridge just to have light overhead and not have to rewire if I want to add it later ??
I am sort of new to this hobby and really enjoy 1/32 cars.
PLEASE ....KEEP ME POSTED !!! I will try and wait until August. "TRY" !

Default Processor Flexibility

Good news that you found this post......We will try our best to roll out sooner than August. We hope your excitement goes viral :>)

We have 2 types of systems the older technology of Printer port connection that works very well and will continue to be the lowest priced solution out there. Here is a link to our web site please get a look at what we now offer for computers with printer port connections. The look and or design will be maintained for both systems....That is the sensor inlay is the same for plastic and wood tracks both systems use the light bridges for plastic tracks and routed tracks. Our methods used to build light bridges or light bars will stay the same as well.

So it really just comes down to older Printer Port Connection...which has proved to be very robust and reliable, accurate as well. Soon we will be rolling out our USB Solution that connects to any usb port on any Windows systems that has Windows XP service pack3 up to current Versions of Windows.

You are correct in a well light room you will not need a light bridge to run races...AS LONG AS you understand any shadow can cause one or multiple lane lap to trigger, caused by Shadow Gremlins... if they fall on each sensor....let say:: a driver reaches across the sensor track to place a car on the track his shadow will trigger lap(s)....to avoid that issue a light bridge is the answer! BUT only the USB system, works with over head lighting, no other systems on the market can run off of room light only, We are very pleased about this new choice in options :>)

IF you get Shadow Gremlins all you need to do is buy, for a routed track, or a plastic track, one of our custom built light bars and or light bridges...of course you could build one of your own and see how it works out for you. Our designs are very robust, work great and are very reliable. We are also offering a pre roll out system...BUT first we are trying to get folks to tell us what they think a system like ours would be worth to them....

So please help us out with a price you would pay for the USB Solution we are rolling in August If not sooner...this is the communities chance to effect the roll out price.

You do have the chance to buy one via our pre roll out sale price which will be lower than the roll out price and lower than the post roll out full retail price.:>)

The other unique thing about this USB offering If you need to update your system with new add ons or upgrades it is very easy. To answer your light bridge question all you need to do is order yours with a connection available for a light bridge if you decide latter to add one....or just send your processor into us and we will upgrade it accordingly and ship it back...we also have a stand alone walwart power supply version if you want to go that way?

Your system never needs to be out of date or short on add on features that are known to us today and for features changes not yet know to us ......meaning the system has an on board micro processor that is programmable so it should never be out of date or beyond upgrade as well changeable for updates or upgrades that we dont have yet....very cool stuff !

VIASUE
PS feel free to toss out a number , a price you think would be the right price for your layout and or project??

How will the audrino thingys mount on a MDF track ?
Will the light bridge need a separate power source or will it be powered using the USB cable ?
I am tempted to buy one now but I am on Social Security Disability and I can't afford to buy 2 within a couple of months of each other.

I already have the parallel port system, using RC through a Phidget board to control power, so the main draw for me would be the ability to move to the USB interface.

So will there be an upgrade path or do I have to bin my current set-up?

At the moment it sounds as if, feature-wise, I would be taking a backwards step, losing my current relay control system and potentially over-writing my RC software set-up too?

I am keen to move away from the parallel port requirement as that interface is heading for extinction - but need to see and understand the size and installation requirements of the USB hardware before committing to either suggesting a price or placing a pre-order.

Also, since I already have two four lane sensor tracks and three light bridges of yours plus a fully functioning customised RC set-up and Phidget board what do I need to add at a minimum to make the jump to USB P&P?

Default Plug and Play USB System vrs DIY Configurations

Here is a picture of the Starter Plug&Play USB System
The USB Connection Provides The Power Supply For The Light Bridge- No AC to DC power supply
required :>)
We Will Also Be Offering Add On/Upgrade Options as::
Longer PC cable
Coupled / ter
mination connection
IR light bridges
Zero footprint light bridge ( as seen in photo )
A removable light bridge that secures by magnets
Advanced Connections options for Call Button(s), Power Relay(s),Count Down LED's, Multiple Track Set ups

Are Being Considered Based On Our Plug & Play Standards & The Race Communities Requests For Them

At this time this is what we are offering as our basic Starter or bare bones Plug & Play offering. Excluding any possible last minute changes. The system can be configured for track control options. That is you might have to bin your control board. The system can be upgraded in lane count in conjunction with RC. I would have to find out IF it will work with the board you are using for track control...??

That might be a better question asked directly of RC ...If RC has helped you in some custom way concerning your track control &/or other RC features that are supported...as things are planed VIASUE will be supporting the hardware & software setup defaulting detailed software Q&A to RC...RC with be supporting Software and hardware setup defaulting detailed hardware questions to VIASUE...Its a team effort. There is just, way to much info, for one source to support hardware and software efficiently and correctly as possible....so we split it up RC = software / VIASUE = Hardware

It can not be seen but the processor can be hung by a key hole area on the back side or it can sit on its non skid pads on a tabletop or desktop / flat area.

One key feature of Plug & Play is it is greatly pre simplified and it requires little or no support.

BUT DIY requires more Q&A support than Plug & Play therefore there is no DIY savings on parts or construction....

There is a chance we might offer a system with the choice of sensor track installed or just sensors without install,, in this way, helping or saving DIY'er from reconfiguring our sensor track into sensor cable ...which could get kind of IF'y :>(

We do not sell a USB configuration of "Parts Only" . Other providers do provide all kind of parts and widgets for their DIY kit versions, which are not P&P...Our Goal is to offer a true Plug&Play systems for less than DIY Kits....and offering parts only is not P&P Which is our goal...

Not to exclude DIY'ers....we have to roll out one system at a time and not every possible widget or configuration possible....In time, we will offer parts and much more ....but for right now we offer a true "Turn Key"" Plug & Play" USB Racing System.....

For DIY in the future you might be able to requesting a custom cable change at the sensor side, as installed into the track or not installed into the track. Sensors not installed into a track would then be considered a DIY configuration and supported as such :>)

This offering is a 100% PnP lap timing system. Assuming we continue down the current path you either buy all of it or none of it. I would imagine some day in the future we could potentially offer customizations, like the ability to use your own sensors, relays, that kind of thing, but for now this is just the lap counting portion of a track interface. We're focussing first on the most important piece of race management. Once we have established a system that "just works" by plugging a few cables in, we'll turn our focus to offering more advanced features.

With that said, you can always augment it on your own without modifying what we are providing. RC supports connecting multiple track interfaces to the same PC. So you could take our lap counting offering and pair it with a 0/0/4 phidget relay and do per lane relays on your own. You'd have to configure it yourself but the PnP system will auto configure then you just need to add in your 0/0/4 relay configuration which I can help with as needed (in the forums for support or email).
