I am having a problem with rev 3.0.30.b2. I have been using Ulimate Racer for a couple years. On the last version I bought the license.
Before I installed the above version I used UR's backup utility to backup my files. I uninstalled it using microsoft uninstall. I installed the new version. Now when I go to my circuit I get a message that says "The parameter is not correct." I tried restoring from UR's backup utility but get the same message.
I looked further into this issue. I installed rev 3.0.30.2b on a different computer, created my circuit and saved it. There were 2 issues: 1) the picture of the circuit would not come up after creating and saving the circuit, 2) when I closed UR and reopened it I got the "the parameter is not correct message" . When I went to the track editor I could open the circuit file manually and everything was as I had set it up, but the picture of the circuit still would not come up.

Try this: open the zoom toolbar, then click on the 'center' tool to display the circuit in the middle of the view.
Meanwhile, what's your operating system? 30b2 graphic interface technology (GUI) has been migrated to more recent technologies. There might remain glitches we're hunting (it's a beta...)
1) The track layout editor shows (pictures) the track fine. When I go the circuit and hardware settings module, that is where I cannot get the picture of the circuit to come up, and that is where the "The parameter is not correct" message appears.
2)The operating system on the original pc was XP Home Edition, Version 2002, service pack 3.
The operating system on the second pc is XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, service pack 3

This problem continues under the new revision. I tried your suggestions with no success. To recap:
1) I start up UR
2) I go to circuit hardware settings
3) I get the message "the parameter is not correct" - in addition it appears that no circiut has been loaded.
4) I attempt to open the file for my Circiut
a. sometimes it opens
b. sometimes the program shuts down and goes back to the desktop
c. if the file opens, almost everything works as it should
d. if the program shuts down, I can usually get it to work on a second attempt
e. no matter what I do, I cannot get the picture of the track to open in the circuit and hardware settings area
5) In addition to the above UR30 speech does not work in the program and in the on line help on the UR30 website the Configure UR speech link doe not work.
I have tried reinstalling on a second pc, re setup my track and saved it. When I call it up after saving I have the same problems listed above.

Only using for trac designs
When try to open it say's MFC APPLICATION ERROR? please advise

it's a Windows ACL issue - now clearly identified -.
That's one of the reason why the installation procedure has been changed.
About the installation:
- did you ran the installation with an administrative user?
- did you replace the racer30 folder when the installation procedure asked for?
It describes where the issue comes from and how to fix it. The new installation procedure has been successfully tested on several XP, Vista and W7. What's your OS?

Please check the rights on racer30 installation folder as describe in below note (http://www.uracer.org/ur30/FAQ.htm#Q2). They should allow full access.
Another workaround: when installed, copy & paste racer30 folder content into another one where you have full access rights, then start UR30 from the copied program file.
I have been very busy lately. I still continue to have the problems noted in my post above. I can get it to work by calling it up manually, but it will never comes up on its own. The "parameter is not correct" message appears whenever I go to the circuit hardware settings module.
Bottom line, I can use it to run races if I call it up manually (sometimes I have to do this more thatn once) but it will not come up on its own. ur30 speech does not work.
I also get that same message. when I click on the hardware page, the lane list is blank also. I switch the number of lanes and when it warns me about the deletion of stats for the lane, I say no. the lane list then appears.
some of the other features seem to work only sometimes, speech works, but doesnt update when I change the settings- resulting in a different stat being called out for each car. when I recheck the settings I find they are back to the old settings- or are correct and just not working, it seem pretty random like the database isnt updating and its running into old files.
