Default C2's on 11/1/11

Thanks, Dan !
Yes, C2's for the third race on 11/1 (odd numbered day).
Two odd numbered days of the month in a row, 10/25 & 11/1, = C2's.
I corrected last week's race report (10/25), to say C2's tomorrow.

Default Race results for 11/1/10

Monday, 11/1/11.
9 drivers came, so, with Billy's help "on the button" (thanks Billy!), we were
able to run fully marshalled races.
Chris and Roger came from the far side of Rochester!
Team Big Tree Speedway had a different twist this week: Russ (the usual team chauffeur)
rode with George (who came from Springville). Welcome back George!
Something about auditioning apprentice chauffeurs ...

DP

Yellow Dog ran the only Fly (this one a "hybrid", with an orange endbell motor).
Al has been wanting a Sideways Racer for some time, and couldn't wait to run his new
birthday present, a Sideways Racer DP.
In a very close race for position, Yellow Dog won by just over a lap, with finishers
2 - 5 separated by only .40 lap.

1.Yellow Dog, 58.70 laps
2.George, 57.65
3.Ron, 57.50
4.Roger, 57.25
5.Russ, 57.20
6.Tom, 56.85
7.Al, 55.85
8.Chris, 54.85
9.Steve, 41.75 (electrical: blown fuse)

fast laps
yellow, Ron 12.018 seconds
black, Yellow Dog 11.992
white, Ron 11.952
red, Yellow Dog 12.205

Can Am

Three drivers ran Fly Porsche's (Yellow Dog his "rising sun" 908, Ron & Russ
917's). Chris drove his NSR 917 "hybrid" (orange end bell motor). The rest of the
field had Slot-It Chaparral's, Ferrari 312's, or an Alfa. The winner was a Slot-It
Alfa, with Fly's finishing 2 - 4. A close race saw positions 1 - 3 separated by
.45 lap, and positions 1 - 6 separated by 1.45 laps.

1.Tom, 57.50 laps
2.Yellow Dog, 57.35
3.Russ, 57.05
4.Ron, 56.70
5.George, 56.25
6.Steve, 56.05
7.Al, 55.85
8.Chris, 55.60
9.Roger, 54.50

fast laps:
yellow, Ron 12.152 seconds
black, Al 11.921
white, Al 11.843
red, Steve 12.195

Slot-It Group C2

The field consisted mostly of Porsche 956's, with a 962, a couple of Mazda's, and a
Jaguar. The finish was close, with only 6 inches separating George's "Boss" 956 (second
place) from the winner Russ' "Obermaier Racing (Disney)" 956. Positions 1 - 4 were
separated by 1.25 laps.

1.Russ, 59.50 laps
2.George, 59.50
3.Tom, 58.95
4.Ron, 58.25
5.Roger, 57.85
6.Chris, 56.85
7.Al, 56.45
8.Yellow Dog, 55.40
9.Steve, 10.40 (mechanical: gears)

fast laps:
yellow, Russ 11.588 seconds (Swept by Russ)
black, Russ 11.534
white, Russ 11.428
red, Russ 11.626

Thanks to those who came to race, and to Ron for the track time.

Next Monday (11/8) is an even numbered day, so the third race will be GT's.

Default Monday, 11/8 no magnet race results

Five drivers came, which was enough to race under "crash and burn" rules (you lose
one lap for every 3 "offs", cumulative over the four heats of the race). We gave Billy
the night off (of the button), and he didn't know what to do with himself - ha!

Team Big Tree Speedway didn't make it. Steve had to work, and I think Russ couldn't
bear the thought of driving alone - ha!
Gary is driving "opposite hand", as he recuperates.
Roger made it in!

DP

Yellow Dog entered his hybrid Fly (with an orange endbell), while everyone else ran
Sideways Racer DP's. A very close race followed, with the top 3 finishers within
.25 lap of one another, and all 5 racers within 1.85 laps. Two drivers lost one lap
due to excessive offs.

1.Yellow Dog, 57.30 laps
2.Tom, 57.20
3.Roger, 57.05
4.Gary, 56.55
5.Al, 55.45

fast laps:
yellow, Gary 11.907 seconds
black, Al 11.939
white, Gary 11.901
red, Gary 12.274

Can Am

Four drivers entered Slot-It's (Alfa, Chaparral, & 2 Ferrari 312's), and Yellow Dog put up
his Fly Porsche 908 (known to the drivers as the "Rising Sun"). Al, Yellow Dog, & Tom went
at it for the win, many heats, driving next to one another - to add to the excitement.
It was a close race, with the top 4 finishers ending up within .95 lap of one another.
The winner was determined by less than 2 feet, with the #2 finisher closing the gap.

1.Tom, 57.75 laps
2.Al, 57.75
3.Yellow Dog, 57.02
4.Roger, 56.80
5.Gary, 55.95

fast laps:
yellow, Gary 12.017 seconds
black, Tom 12.025
white, Al 11.936
red, Gary 12.206

GT

The all Slot-It field was heavy with Nissan's (two short tail, and one long tail).
A McClaren, and a Ferrari F40 rounded out the entries. The pressure was on, with the
faster GT cars, and two drivers lost 2 laps each, due to excessive offs. The top 3 finishers
were within .78 lap of one another.

Al's wife told him to "go have fun", and he really did! No amount of "psycological warfare",
by the other drivers, in both the Can Am & the GT race, could get him to get 3 offs.
He, and his Ferrari F40, were a force to be reckoned with. Al also had all the fast laps,
while driving to his first GT win. Congratulations, Al !

1.Al, 58.80 laps
2.Yellow Dog, 58.05
3.Tom, 58.02
4.Gary, 54.70
5.Roger, 53.02

fast laps:
yellow, 11.741 seconds (all fast laps were set by Al !)
black, 11.807
white, 11.594
red, 11.898

Thanks to all who came. Thanks to Ron, at Ace Hobby, for the track time.

A special "Get Well Soon" goes out to Ron !

Next Monday, 11/15, is an odd numbered day of the month, so the third race will be
Slot-It Group C2 cars.
