Default Rocky Mountain Slot Car Club

If anyone is in the Denver area, check out the RMSCC for some good racing. We run everything from 50s sports cars to modern F1. Classes range from box stock to unlimited "run what you brung". Current classes are unlimited Slot.it (no 312Ps, anything may be done as long as Slot.it parts are used), and JGTC, box stock+ (rear tire changes and weights are only mods). Next series is unlimited WRC, '87 and up, and 1960-1979 sports cars and prototypes, limited class (tire, wheel, guide, axle and gear changes allowed), basically anything that raced on road courses between 1960 and 1979. If anyone is pasing through Denver go to www.rmscc.org and see where there is some racing going on. There is always someone with an open track or we will open one up for you.

Default RMSCC series info...

We just finished up a couple of 5 race series involving Slot.its and JGTC cars. Lots of fun to be had; Denver has such a great slot community.

If you've got some free time, check us out here:
http://www.rmscc.org

We had about 18 people participate over the course of the series. Some made it to every race, some just showed up for a race or two. A fun time was had by all!

El Tejon, come on up. It's only about a 5 hour drive for you, no? We have a member who drives down from Scottsbluff, NE for the races once in a while. It's a once-a-month gathering, for the most part. Check out the boards, see if it's something that you'd be interested in being a part of.

Cheers

Default 3 hour Fly Classic Enduro has come and gone...

The format was non-mag unlimited Fly Classics, limited to the 512 CL, 917LH, Flunder LH, Lola T70 and 917K. Mods ran from a 512 CL with an HRS chassis and a Slot.it 21.5K, to a 917K with full boat Slot.it parts and a yellow can 25K (the latter being the choice for most of the participants). The track was a commercial 4 lane Scaley sport located in Colorado Springs at a store called Colorado Custom Hobbies, each lane averaging around 93' running at 12V. We ran qualifying and paired up teams based of those times. Fastest with slowest, 2nd fastest with 2nd slowest, etc.

Qualifying was take care of first.

Results are below, track is a four lane Scaley Sport (12V) averaging 93' per lane:
Sam B 11.73
Mark G 11.75
Jim N 11.98
Steve A 12.28
Dave B 12.65
Jim B 12.87
Miles S 12.90
Erick M 13.39

Teams ended up being Sam and Erick (Lola T70), Mark and Miles (512CL), JIm N and Jim B (Lola T70), and Dave B and Steve A (917K). The action was fast and furious with controller issues throughout. The team of The Two Jims had the lion's share of mechanicals, first with an errant Parma controller (one of the supplied PMs went titsup) then once that was resolved (using two more Parmas of varying states of ability) they had a drive wheel come loose, and it was fixed it twice but in the typical never say die attitude and stoicism of your typical RMSCCer they soldiered on to the end.

Overall results are:
Sam/Erick R-229 Y-197 B-228 W-217 871.2 (2nd place)
Mark/Miles W-230 R-223 Y-227 B-235 915.6 (1st place)
Jim N/Jim B Y-191 B-206 W-203 R-195 795.5 (4th place)
Dave B/Steve A B-215 W-202 R-213 Y-191 821.5 (3rd place)

Fastest laps were set by Mark/Miles
Red-10.83
White-10.59
Blue-10.41
Yellow-10.85

First place was to have gotten a Fly car each but since I was ineligible the 2nd Fly car was passed on to the 2nd place guys. So, my team mate Miles got a Fly GT40, 2nd place drew straws and Sam walked off with the Fly 908, 4th got sweet little toolkits each donated by Tony of CCH.

The starting grid. Left to right - Sam and Eric, Mark and Miles, Dave and Steve and the Two Jims.

The winning 512 CL on the left, the 2nd place T70 on the right and their respective trophies underneath.

Cast of characters left to right. Mark, Dave, Jim N, Erick, Sam, Jim B, and Steve. Most of us are holding a piece of the 6 pizzas graciously supplied by Tony of CCH.

The winning 512 CL entering the back straight.

The 3rd place 917K.

The 4th place Lola

All in all a great time and I highly recommend you check out CCH if you're in the Denver/Colorado Springs area and also check out our club http://rmscclub.proboards61.com/index.cgi , we've 23 members with around 9 tracks that we rotate the season through, with more tracks on the way.
