Default Round 6 - Québec City, QC, Canada

Round 5 was just run by our good friends in Montréal and next on the calendar is Québec City, to complete the Canadian portion of this great race.

On September 12th, I'll be hosting, along with Georges (another fine Québec City slot racer), the first two rounds of the brand new Québec Provincial Slot Car Driver Championship (loose translation from the french name). That's when our Montréal friends will be bringing us the IPS cars.

Round 6 of the IPS proxy race is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 25th. The qualification session will be run on Friday, September 18th, at 7:00PM EDT.

Until then, we'll be getting the track ready for what is sure to be great racing action! Stay tuned!

Christian

Considering that the mailing deadline to send cars to their original Tech Inspection for this international series (so far as I recall) was March 13th, it's impressive that the organizer and hosts have been able to stick with the schedule so well thus far.

Looking forward - with optimism a forethought - to Round 6!

I hope my tires stick this time. I'm blaming it on Ninco.

Wayne, I was thinking that running them at 7 or 8 volts would be easier for the drivers AND for the photographer, especially on the straights. Hope you don't mind.

I agree. Besides, don't those Ct guys all favour low voltage? Wouldn't be fair to give 'em more juice than they can handle.

I race on 13.6v, in CT, for no good reason other than blind tradition.

The cars are now in Québec City and ready to run their qualification session, scheduled for next Friday night (September 18th) at 7:00PM EDT.

You can find out the order in which the cars will be taken to the track, which has been chosen at random. It's now at the official IPS 2009 - Round 6 website (http://cgingras.com/IPS2009/). Those familiar with the CPR know that the results will be updated live during the session, as soon as each car crosses the line at the end of the heat.

For the qual session, each car will be run for 12 laps (after having its tires cleaned) and the best lap time will be used to group the cars for the race. The race is scheduled to take place on Friday September 25th, at 7:30PM EDT. The 25 cars will be separated in 5 groups of 5 cars for the race. Each driver will run the same lane all night, to give an equal opportunity to each car. 3 minutes per lane, 4 lanes, lap totals will be calculated to the tenth of a lap.

Good luck to everyone!

Christian

Ready for the qualification session? Who will be there to follow the results live on the web?
