Default HO Scale Drag Strip

Has anyone ever seen a slot car kit with the accessories included to make a drag stip? Don't really need anything fancy - just straight track and an accessory thta shows which car goes through the end gate first?

Also - why are 1/64 slot cars called ho scale when ho is actually 1/87?

Yeah, way back in the day, and I mean the early and mid 70's. Tyco pro made a set that had 2 chassis' and 4 bodies (2 roadracers-2 funnycars) it made a race course and had enough straights to make a dragstrip plus the christmas tree. Those were the days. I not sure if autoworld is making something today. But they are making drag bodies for their specialty AFX chassis' so a dragstrip can't be far behind. Those were the days man....

Our HO cars aren't 1/64 or 1/87 lol

My best estimate is a 1/72 wheelbase , and about 1/60 width....

HO grew. The original Aurora vibrators and T-jets were made to go along with their HO scale trains. They were the closest thing to 1/87th. As the cars grew in width the scale changed. Somewhere along the line the term 1/64th was coined. Its not right either. I would agree that the cars are somewhere in the 1/72 scale. Of course that depends on the real car.

The TycoPro chassis introduced in 1970 was the first HO slot car to move up to 1/64 scale.
