Default My car,your car,our cars...???

I am being bold and starting a thread where others will hopefully show what they have created.

Here is my car so far...
..compromises include wheel choice(Racer not BWA),quality of finish, suspension detail and other stuff that I will attempt to sort out before sending the car to the US.

I have added weight after experiencing the "Kalbfell effect"

Please post some pics of your entries...

regards

ps tea strainer dear?... what tea strainer??

'Kalbfell Effect' is slightly diminished in cases of of small displacement, low powered scale cars, Munter. Originater is implementing a weight reduction program, I believe, at this very moment.

Dunno what made me check but I noticed I had the front track at 51mm...yikes! where's the grinder?

Of course this led to other minor issues...but I am ready to pack the thing up and get rid of it before it drives me crazy.

Rear width 48.9 mm
Rear tire width 6.9 mm Height 21.4 mm

This car was fast through the esses but would tip over when it hit the limit. Medium speed.
Nice job on carving and casting the body.

In it's 5 lap test it came off right away so the braids had to be adjusted it is a bit noisey but slides nice. Penelope Pitlane chassis that had medium speed on straight..

In it's 5 lap run it would oversteeer more left than right and would get stuck sideways on the track but has good straightaway speed.

Default Car #14

Car #14 Robert Livingston USA
Ferrari Sharknose
Weight 56 Grams
Front width 48.5 mm
Rear width 50.15 mm
Rear tire width 6.8 mm Height 21.65 mm
Wheelbase 72.6 mm
Gear ratio 9/23 Slot It

Robert did a great job detailing this car out, much better than last year.
Now for the bad news. This car was a rocket on the low grip Carrera track last year and was very quick through the esses. The mods to the car made it harder to run through the esses and would get stuck sideways in the third shallow Esse to the left. The car seems very fast on the straights though. Hopefully the car will not develope the hoppping in the corners like on the stickier tracks last year.

Default Car #15

Car #15 Newso Aus
Brabham BT7
Weight 65 grams
Front width 49 mm
Rear width 49.9 mm
Rear tire width 6.9 mm Height 20 mm
Wheelbase 74.3 mm
Gear ratio 9/24 Wizzard brass HO gears

This car had no grip in it's 5 lap test. He is pushing some huge 24th scale braids around. I am concerned about the longevity of the HO gears since they are already making some noise.

Default Car #17

Car #17 Bantoft Tasmania
Lotus 25 with low exhaust
Weight 61 grams
Front width 49.4 mm
Rear width 50.5 mm
Rear tire width 6 mm height 20.4 mm
Wheelbase 73.6 mm
Gear ratio 9/24 Slot It

Wow this car is tall, he did a great job fabricating the suspension but he made it just a touch too wide in the rear which even with 6 mm wide tires it was too wide by .5 mm. This car was tippy since it was so tall and on such skinny rear tires but was only one of two cars that got a very fast on the straights.

Default Car #22

Car #22 Jay Hardy USA

Lotus 21
Weight 59 grams
Front width 51.15 mm
Rear width 50 mm
Rear tire width 7.23 mm Height 22.25 mm
Wheelbase 73 mm
Gear ratio 9/24 Ranch Design

I was afraid when I saw the Beardog chassis under this car it would be too wide. In it's 5 lap test it would oversteer when turning right and had medium speed down the straight.

Default Car #23

Car#23 Ecurie Martini USA
Brabham BT11
Weight 58 grams
Front width 51 mm
Rear width 50.2 mm
Rear tire width 7 mm Height 21 mm
Wheelbase 72.1 mm
Gear ratio 8/20 Wizzard Brass HO gears

This car has the Beardog chassis under it and has 13 inch wheels. It is also too wide.
This car also has the brass HO gears which make a great amount of noise. It handles extremely well and is Very Fast Plus down the straights.

Some of our cars are a mm or less over the 50mm width mandated by the rules. Is there a penalty? The odd part of this finding is that I used the same rear axle, wheels, and tires as last year! I must not have squoze it together hard enough when I was reassembling it.
