Thanks for easing my concerns guys, I'll be bringing my 11 yr. old son with me and he is a TOTAL beginner, so some patience would be very much appreciated.

See you all on Friday, we can't wait!!

Hi Darren,

I would Strongly recommend coming out with your Son on a Saturday or Sunday for a while before jumping into the Racing Series. I can not remember if I have met your son yet.....my bad. Does he have Any tracktime at the store yet?

Even for a "Grown Up" I would strongly recommend a bit of tracktime before entering an official race.

Come on out Friday and lets play it by ear. Either way He can get a bunch of free tracktime before and after the race even if he dosn't officially enter.

In Fact, I think we should have 4-5 kids out Friday and we could probably start a kids Race. Like I said, lets play it by ear and either way you and your son should have a bunch of fun.

See ya Friday,
Ron

Second Ron's suggestion... to get comfortable racing it is a very steep learning curve. I have seen too often people jump in thinking that there is not much to it and then quitting before they really give it a chance. Come on out and practice, meet your fellow racers... most don't bite (Serge be good).

It is a great family hobby and something that even many of us old farts still really enjoy.

Tim

I think a kids race is a good idea as it can get a little hairy with them even when I practice. I have been practicing for a year (and I still need tons more of track-time just to try and keep up with the pros.) I can't wait to run my first full series. Looking forward to it!

We had a blast last night, the event was so well run and everybody was very nice and helpful. My son had a very tough time racing as his nerves got the best of him and he de-slotted quite a bit. He's going to practice a fair bit more before racing again but certainly appreciated everybody's patience last night. I also had a blast and focused on not de-slotting, sadly that meant some very slow lap times but as long as I don't get yelled at for that, I will continue to race every Friday!

Thanks Race Haven, My son and I are LOVING this hobby!

Yes indeed Double D... was a great turnout and loads of fun. I can't remember the last time I spent 7.5 hours at Race Haven. I'll try to remember to keep an eye on my own Newman too next time.I hope everyone made it home O.K. as there was a wee bit of a snow storm by the time we left. I'll have to practice more too as I still got smoked by the Vets.

Welcome to your new addiction!

Good to see a turn out with may new faces. Great fun dicing with Achim... still need to figure out how to beat his Porsche. Can't get any closer in the open race, came down to fastest lap.

Now to do a repaint on the Mosler and 997. Should have some new cars ready for next week.

Default Race #1 - Jan 7/2011 Slot it Porsche

Hi Guys,

What a Fantastic Night of Racing!!! We had 12 Entries.....Porsche Racing is just as strong as Ever making it possibly one of the Best Races yet! We had a LOT of new drivers entered along with a few of the Veterans. This made for some interesting heats, but everybody was just out to run some laps and see where the cookie crumbled.

Nothing but Laughs and Smiles all Around!

The Man of the Night was Achim!!! A Great Drive and a Great Car!!!! Nice Run Achim!

Tim was Right there only a couple Laps down to take the Second Spot on the Podium.

Glen also had a Fantastic Run and is finding some speed with his Porsche. Glen rounded out the Podium.

Here are the Lap Totals:

Achim - 187.100
Tim - 185.100
Glen - 184.450
Bill - 182.600
Elliot - 182.200
Adam - 175.900
Kevin - 174.750
Charles - 172.800
Tony - 169.100 (Fast Lap over Darren)
Darren - 169.100
Sacha - 162.500
Colton - 143.450

We do not have Fast Laps due to a Glitch with the Printer. We will have it sorted out for next Friday.

It was a Super Fun Night. Everyone New and Old had a ton of Fun!!!

Anyone and Everyone is Welcome to come out and Race. It is a Very Relaxed atmosphere and I think all the New Racers did a Fine job of Running clean and everyone was extra courteous on the Track.

Thanks to Everyone that participated. See you all next Friday.

Ron

Sure fun when you win. How about letting your son drive your car next week?

It was a fun evening. Nothing too serious other than Sacha taking me out with 2 minutes left for my only off of the race.

Naptime Racing had a good result with a 2nd and 4th. The 4th will be improved on next week. Car has been treated to new braid and tires. Just need an Achim motor.

Now Ron nice to see results up so soon. Keep it up. How about the Open results? I was somewhere mid pack in first outing of my battered RHH NASCAR(a steal at $12 including Senior's discount). While I knew going in I no chance of winning it was fun to drive something different.

Jeff had Ray E back to work on the car on Sat. Many changes were made. Picked up almost a 1000 rpms besides improved handling. It may be a Mosler beater yet. It would be nice to see another one running.

It was nice to see a lot of new faces out. Darren that was you in the Mazda? It does get better. The kink is fun eh? I find driving improves once the marshals start charging for offs.

Oh not to forget Race Bucks. Thank you everyone for your donations. A nice payout. For those that didn't know paid $29 and change in the Open race. I expect similar result this Friday. Better than winning a Porsche race

No, I had the Newman car in the Porsche race(Elliot has one too.). Not sure the fellas name with the Mazda, but he looked to be having some issues. I'd like to get an open car soon, but I think I should learn to drive my "Newman" first.
