Question Magnet Upgrade

Im new to the car maintenance thing ha. I recently got some new cars and performance magnets. I started with my tyco 440x2 chassis. I put the new red magnets in n when i put it on the track the car would go backwards. So I tried to use most my brain n rotated the magents. Is there a right direction? So when I put it on the track, they stuck so much that it very quickly tore up the pinion gear. Now I have read maybe tires and adjusting the magnets would help. This type of chassis n magnet style doesnt really allow for adjusting. Is there something im missing or could be doing? PLease let me know I want to care good care of these cars. Anything special I should know, I have 2 SG+, 3 440x2, 2 magnatraction n a 440 bar magnet to install still and I dont want to be ruining these cars. Any info would help n be appreciated. Thanx

Check out how I have my setup today!

Don´t fiddle with the cars if you´re not shure what you´re doing! Just ask

You installed new "red" magnets? I guess that are stronger traction magnets and not motor magnets...

Watch the temperature of the car, it will get hotter with those stronger magnets!

If the car is running backwards, you just installed the rear axle the wrong way.

In the Tyco 440´s the crown gear has to be on the left side of the motor pinion when you´re looking from behind/above on the chassis

also with you track setup, strong mags mag be an issue with the elevations ie.. keeping the track together
