Default "Sloppy II's .... THE RACE" ....

OK let's just shoot around some ideas as the first event unfolds on our next one. This may relax some as their cars run around North America.

I want to see a slightly longer box so my Mazda Miata or the new MG B's from scaly and Pioneer will fit. ( I have a backup plan.)...

As cool as I think that Miata is turning out, I don't think we should make the box bigger. The Miata is definitely LITTLE but the proxy is for SUPER LITTLE and the box has already grown...

I'm actually hoping the box shrinks a little, if not in length then in width, though I'm hoping for both.

What if there were two classes being run concurrently, one for super little and one for the bigger but still little, little cars? We can have the catch be that you can enter just a super little car, but you can't enter just a little, that way we'll have everyone building the kind of cars the proxy was originally intended for.

Not trying to step on anyones toes here, whatever is decided for next year I will be ready with a new car and track.

i agree. smaller box is better. the really small cars are great, but they can't compete with the medium sized cars that fit in the current box. i really wanted to run a classic mini, but it couldn't hang with cars nearly twice its size.

Lets just look at ideas for now. Don't worry about toes it's fun and we have much time to see what all want and later we can finish out. So go out and look for cool offbeat bods to use and we will see where it leads over time.

I myself do not want to grow and want to stay to the table top size tracks. I'm thinking about how to make the small tracks have limits both big and small???? and maybe elevation required maybe just to see some cool up and downs??? For maybe SLOPPY 3????

I can't wait to see more cars running and would like to try UStream or YouTube like the Bibber did! So we can sit back and watch at least for qualifying.
Lets have fun!

Same here, I have a few of them waiting to be transformed into super SLOP but they are so tiny. Even my Fiat was too small so I "stretched" it a bit, I guess I could do the same to a Mini but it would be wider than it is long and that would just be ridiculous!

I think the two classes run concurrently is a good compromise, we can call it SLOPily!, SUPER LITTLE OPEN PROXY includes little yes! Maybe I got up a little too soon, or maybe I should go have some breakfast...

As far as elevations, I think they should be allowed. Someone had mentioned a parking garage and that would be just too cool, imagine keeping the same 9 square foot area but stacking 3 3'x3' squares on top of each other, that would be awesome!

That would be cool Lou a 3' tall Slopping Garage! I was thinking about a rally track about 2-3' tall! That would be too cool! What gave me the idea was Cruzin Bob's new 1/43 track.

The pic of the track is much larger then we call out for (3x8') but I think we could do a 9' Rally track with a little creative thinking....?

This is 2' x 8'...with just one lane it could probably be shrunk down to a 2' x 4.5' footprint...stop me before I rout again!!

That's the spirit Luf!
Gascarnut (Dennis Samson) had a great idea also ... along as having a "footprint" of sq. ft. you add a "cubic foot" spec called out to a promote the track to be built UP! This would be a neat idea!
Thanks Dennis! (My fiendish plan is working I'm getting him hooked!
)

One thing I have noticed after seeing the cars, and thinking about elevations. We have to have a minimum ground clearance.

The Gnat was SO small that weight had to be put under the chassis. It was so low that it would hit on the solder joints.
When you get the cars take a look you will see what I mean. If we shrink the box further it means adding weight down lower
to get the cars to handle. That can mean trouble for Gnat sized cars especially when you start adding elevations to the mix.

What might work would be to add a bonus to tracks that have elevations and a second class for "Gnat" sized cars.

Although, today I tried my Mazda MX5 Miata body on a SCX Compact DTM Chassis (posibilities)...

You need better solder joints! Kidding of course. The chassis I used was really low to the track anyway. I actually sanded the lead down to be flush with the actual chassis and it still dragged on one joint on my track...which I also sanded down. Even if the lead had not been there it more than like still would have dragged on your track...and mine.

A better spot may have been to add more lead above the rocker panels inside the body but I didn't do any testing with it that way prior to shipping it out so it is what it is...for now.

Bibster: I think I have found a challenger for the Gnat. 1/32 scale, about the same wheelbase .

Those forks will never fit "in the box".

Do they have a "drum handler" option?
