Default Racer /Sideways shows us the next Sideways Group 5 car.

With the Sideways Capri just hitting Stores in North America we have received photo's of their next release.

The Lancia Beta Monte Carlo Group 5 Car.

These images were shot by Amazingslot, and sent to SCI by Marco from Racer.

Racer are glad to send you first photos relevant to a handmade pre production sample
of next new Sideways model as follows:

SW16 - Lancia Beta Montecarlo Gr.5 - Nurburgring 1000kms 1979 - Patrese / Rorhl

This model will have same technical characteristics as the previously released
SW14 Capri Zakspeed.

Further photos of pre production sample with latest detail level and colours will be released soon.

Here are a few more images to wet your whistle!!

We can't wait for the next batch of photo's and for the release of this car to pair up with the Zakspeed Capri.

Thanks to Racer for supplying these images and News.

Nice looking sample, looking forward to a photo of the actual car. Any info on whether or not the rear wheels will be same size or larger than those on the Capri?

....I seem to have a faint recollection of Marco/Racer saying the wheels will all be the same size and motors/gearing the same so the are competitive with each other? But don't quote me on that

...couldn't resist quoting you , but now that you mention it I recall that as well, and also he said there'd be a potential fit issue with gears and/or wheel well clearance.

Thanks.

This is the one I'm looking to buy so I can compete with FL_Slotter's Capri. But I am really anticipating the BMW M1.

ModlerBob,

You really meant to say"This is the one I'm looking to buy so I can tryi to compete with FL_Slotter's Capri."

Correct?

Oh, it will compete. Whether I can win with it is another matter to be decided later

I will be getting the Lancia Beta as my first sideways group 5 car. I may wait for the blue one. After seeing the test shot of the BMW M1 I am not as inthusiastic about it's appearance. To me the M1 was the best looking all time BMW and the fender flares as they are on the Fly version added to the looks. But the boxed in fenders at all four corners to me completely destroy the lines and therefore the looks of the M1. I understand their choice as it most likely allows the car to track wider than one with the curved flares. I will probably get the M1 too but maybe not right a way.

Last week on my dealer's Carrera track, we raced the Sideways Lancia against some Sideways Capris, and lap times were very close, Capri a couple of tenths faster. But that gap would probably disappear, as the Lancia was taken out of the sealed box about 15 minutes before the race, just enough time to remove the magnet and slight adjustment to pd. With more tuning I'd think they'd be even more equal.

Hi Modlerbob, just to underline the fact we will be making the Group 5 Schnitzer BMW M1, the version you are referring to, made by Fly was a PROCAR. We would like to stick to Group 5 cars
at the moment but we will probably add other version in next catalogue.

MMRacer, thanks for the response. I understand Sideways reasoning for doing the Schnitzer M1 and that the Procar M1 was the immediate predecessor. I do hope that Sideways in the not too distant future adds the Procar style body to their lineup. It seems a natural as most of the major F1 drivers of the period raced them. I also saw that some of the procar M1's ran in group 5 races.

Does anyone know of an estimated release date for the Sideways Porsche 935 group 5 car?
