Default dimensions of 1:32 cars/tracks

i'm pretty new to slots (had a cpl HO sets as a kid). i have seen some pictures of the different car sizes side by side (1:64, 1:32, 1:24) but it is hard to tell just exactly how big they are from pictures. can anyone tell me the dimensions of a 1:32 car (length, width, height)? also, how wide is 1:32 track? an average width is fine as i seem to recall reading some mfg's have different track widths.

thanks
Dave

defed,
Welcome to SCI! Here is a random sampling of 1/32 cars sizes (approximates);

Slot.it Porsche 956 5 7/8" l x 2 7/16" w x 1 3/8" h,
Fly Porsche 911S 5 3/8" l x 2 3/8" w x 1 1/2" h,
Carrera Corvette C5R 5 3/4" l x 2 1/2" w x 1 1/2" h,
Ninco Mini 4 1/2" l x 2 1/8" w x 1 3/4" h.

Track, like you said, varies in width. Most manufacturer web sites list the track dimensions. Ninco track, which I use, is one of the wider brands and it measures out at just over 7" wide. Carrera track is 7.8" wide, as it also allows for 1/24 scale cars to run. Scalextric and SCX are narrower.

As for track widths one site I know of gives the following figures:

brand track width slot separation

Carrera 7 3/4" 3 7/8"

Scx Scalextric 6 1/16" 3 1/16"

Ninco 7 1/16" 3 17/32"

Hope that helps and welcome aboard!

Hey Pete,
That Vette looks a bit small, maybe because you have big hands?

Here is my version...

HO Tyco Porsche 911 on old AFX 15" straight (complete with dust and missing tabs!!), 1/32 Ninco Porsche 911GT3 on Ninco 40 cm straight, standard can of soda.

thanks for the pics. i had seen a side by side of HO, 1:32 and 1:24 on another site, but since i didn't have an HO here, and not having actually seen one for several years, i had a hard time remembering just how big they were. that's why i wanted some avg dimensions. i can 'see' those in my mind better.

Default Other 1/32 scale track types...

not mentioned here often...

Artin is 6.5" wide with 3 3/16" slot spacing

and vintage (1960's era) Strombecker, Revell, Monogram, Riggen, and Bachman are all 7" wide with 3 1/2" slot spacing
