I'm just not sure where exactly to apply them. I couldn't find a real car with them installed.

dinglebery these bonnet straps were used in the 60th and 70th on race cars to secure bonnets on front and rear from flying away during an accident I saw them on NSU TT , Simcas BMW 2002 and others . Nowaday most classic cars on racetracks use leather straps.Comment

I'm not so sure about that. Look at Google Images for the BRM Gulf Mini, there are no decals there beside the front headlights apparently, but also it will help you identify where all the other ones belong, hopefully!Comment

Bonnet straps and Boot straps are often used on Rally and Race Mini's.

They would be used to pull the bonnet ( hood ) down on the front. On the rear they are used on top to hold the boot lid from dropping down. As shown by wudda.
Not needed on my Mini's but often used back in the day. Early Mini's would use leather straps, more classy.
