1. INTRODUCTION
This International Rule Book is intended to define the technical regulations for all official BRM competitions to be organised by BRM Model Cars Official Distributors or BRM Model Cars directly.
The main purpose is to enable all slot racers who want to participate in BRM Challenges in every part of the World, to have the same possibilities of tuning for their models.
This will allow International competitions, with the same models and specifications used for all National and International BRM Challenges.
These Technical Regulations can be applied both for sprint races and endurance races.
2. The New Philosophy In 1:24 Scale Model Car slot Racing
The mission of BRM is to create a really new Philosophy for Model Car Slot Racing in 1:24 scale.
When BRM decided to start, it was because they were convinced they should launch on the world market a new type of slot car model, completely different from any other in this market. A truly new philosophy. A simple model, easy to drive, fun, with good performances and, above all, a beautiful scale model of a real racing car!
And since driving those models is fun, they thought of this International Rule Book, which will apply to all Sanctioned races to be held with BRM models in North America.
The BRM racing philosophy is simple. It is racing for tuned, not modified cars. The race is more about the Racers and less about modification. It is about a more realistic driving experience. One where the driver has to think about their actions and protect their car by driving with that in mind. If you lose a wing in a crash you have to repair or replace it under green - just like the real thing! This realism helps people drive with a difference frame of mind, one that is more realistic.
3. The BRM CARS
3.1 Car models eligible for BRM Challenges: are

New models will be allowed in 2013, only in the same category (Group C).
Other classes are planned; those will be added to the regulations at a later date.
3.2 All the parts of the model must be the ones used in the box stock car; they must be fitted as supplied by BRM.
3.3 Their replacement, or any modification, can only be done according to the rules herein.
4. CAR BODIES
4.1 Bodies must be complete in all its parts, except mirrors, front winglets, wipers, antennas, and tow hooks. Filler caps, glass and all interior parts must be fitted at the start of the race.
4.2 The body cannot be modified in any way nor may it be made lighter by sanding or any other means**
4.3 Bodies may be bullet-proofed with Shoe Goo, but it is not allowed to use Shoe Goo as weight. (do not empty a complete tube of Shoe Goo as a way of adding weight to the body!!) You can re-enforce headlight buckets, details like filler caps, windows from the inside, rear lights. On the Toyota you may add Shoe Goo to the side parts of the body to keep them in place (multi piece body). The intent of these rules is to allow strengthening of the body to help prevent crash damage, not to tune the car. Excessive re-enforcement may create a situation where you are asked to remove added weight (glue) Light kits, when fitted may be Shoe goo’d in.
4.4 Body kits can be used, but they must be completely painted so that no unpainted areas remain (no clear coat only on white plastic).
4.5 The body weight should be no less than the standard box stock bodies.
4.6 Body minimum weight limit:

4.7 Both types of body mounting systems are legal on the Porsche models, early Porsche bodies may be modified to replicate the later O Ring type bodies**
4.8 Porsche bodies may be attached to the chassis using the provided screws and washers, screws must be stock length, no car may be raced with loose body screws. Early Porsche bodies may be modified to later spec, see below **
4.9 Washers may be glued onto the screws, for faster assembly. ( early model only )
4.10 Later Porsche and Toyota bodies must be attached to the chassis with provided screws (fitted to bodies) and O-Rings (fitted to chassis) ** early Porsche cars may be modified to the later O ring mount system. They must exactly replicate the later version if this is done. O Ring body mount systems may not have washer fitted to disable the quick fit body mounting. The only cars that can use the non quick fit body mount are cars offered that way BRM001 through BRM010. All later production BRM011 through BRM021 can only run with the quick release system, no washers may be fitted to the body screws of these cars.
4.11 Only original BRM screw sets are allowed.
4.12 Windows must remain transparent. Only tampo-prints as included in the standard models or decals added in self painted kits, with the same size are allowed. Windscreen must be fitted to the car at all times.
4.13 Rear wing attachment can be reinforced with glue, tape or sponge rubber, provided the body shape is not altered. No tape is allowed on the top surface of the wing.
4.14 On the Big and Small wing Porsche you may use a small piece of tape from the endplates to the side of the body to re-enforce the wing. Toyota’s rear wing mount may be taped to the chassis, but must be able to be removed; it must not be glued into the chassis.
4.15 Car can’t be raced without the Rear Wing. If it comes off during the race, it must refitted or replaced immediately, (within a lap, or the car will not be scored for that segment of the race). This must be done under green Track conditions. No replacement of Body or Chassis is allowed during a Race. You must repair the damage and pass Technical inspection before re-entering the race if the car is pitted for damage or repairs. Any minor parts that are lost during the race must be refitted before the next race. (Wheel inserts Headlight buckets, etc.)
4.16 No repairs may be carried out during a lane change, all cars must be replaced in the Pit Area on the Track, work can only resume when the race is re-started.
5. MODEL CHASSIS
5.1 Straightening the chassis is allowed, filing the chassis (other than modifications mentioned) is not allowed. Opening body mount holes other than to fit O Ring mounting system is not allowed. Nothing else may be added or removed from the chassis.
5.2 The chassis can be cleaned from injection flash only.
5.3 Trimming of the front edge of the chassis to allow braid clearance is allowed. Also you can modify the front of the chassis to fit the S-026SW race guide.No modification to axle mounts or bearings permitted, you may glue in the rear axle bearings but not modify their fitment in any way.
5.4 In the Porsche 962C chassis (first production), is permitted to modify chassis to allow adjustment of rear wheels and gear. But only in the same area as the IMSA Car chassis, no extra plastic may be removed. You may also convert to the later body mount system using O-rings. Motor shims are allowed on early chassis
5.5 Magnet is forbidden, magnet retaining strap must be fitted..
5.6 Adhesive tape is allowed under the chassis to prevent the loss of screws that fix the body. Cars that lose screws during a race will be penalized, especially if such action causes a problem to the track or another car. (Suggested penalty 100 laps Endurance Race, 10% of heat total Sprint Race). Tape can not be used to control the body movement.
5.7 The cockpit, the dashboard and the driver must be present at all times and regularly fixed to the frame, as per specifications contained in the assembly instructions of the original BRM kits.
5.8 The cockpit, the dashboard and the driver must be painted.
6. FRONT AXLES, FRONT WHEEL HUBS/TIRES
6.1 Maximum front wheel width tire-to-tire are:
6.1.1 for any Porsche mm. 82
6.1.2 for any Toyota mm. 80
In no case may the wheels and tires be visible outside the body when viewed from above. (also in the case of front axle floating).
6.2 Only original BRM front tires or S-022S lowered front tires are allowed. It is possible to lower stock front tires, but it is forbidden to treat them with glue (or similar) for limiting its grip - may be made slightly conical section, but the outer diameter of the front tires can’t be less than 23mm.
6.3 Front wheel hubs must be complete with original inserts; the type of insert to be used may be chosen from among those in the BRM catalogue and must be fully assembled and painted.
6.4 Only original BRM spacers between chassis and wheel hubs are allowed; they could be in Teflon or Brass, with the aim of achieving the maximum width allowed. Toyota must remove the front spacers to achieve legal width.
6.5 New accessories of this type will be allowed in the future, if specifically notified by BRM Model Cars, with special modification of this technical regulation.
6.6 Front axles must be BRM product, no drill blanks are allowed.
7. REAR AXLES, REAR WHEEL HUBS/TIRES, CROWN GEARS
7.1 Maximum rear wheel width tire-to-tire are:
7.1.1 for any Porsche mm. 83
7.1.2 for any Toyota mm. 81
In no case, may the wheels and tires must be visible outside the body when viewed from above.
7.2 Only original BRM rear tires are allowed:
7.2.1 For Plastic tracks S-020, S-020S and S-021 can be used
7.2.2 For Wood tracks S-021 and S-021S and Scaleauto SC-2426BRM can be used.
7.3 When race tires are supplied by the race organization, type and size will be decided by the race organization.
7.4 It is possible to turn the rear tires, but their diameter must not be less than 27.5mm at the start of the race. If the outer diameter becomes less than 27.0mm, tires must be replaced immediately with others of the same type.
7.5 Only original BRM bearings are allowed; they could be in Teflon or Brass. Rear Bearings may be glued into the chassis. It is absolutely forbidden to change their position.
7.6 Original BRM stoppers are allowed, Toyota and Porsche gear mesh spacers and S-012SS shims are also allowed to set gear mesh.
7.7 Only original BRM spacers (same as 6.4) are allowed, with the aim of achieving the maximum width allowed.
7.8 Only original BRM crown gears are allowed; the number of teeth of the crowns is either 34 or 36.
7.9 Rear wheel hubs must be complete with original inserts; the type of insert to be used may be chosen from among those in the BRM catalogue and must be fully assembled and painted.
7.10 Rear axles must be BRM product, no drill blanks are allowed.
8. GUIDE BLADES (PICK-UP) AND CONTACT BRAIDS
8.1 Only BRM Guide Blades S-026 and S-026SW (Pick-Ups) are allowed. Must be held in place by provided BRM O-Ring in correct stock position. The O-Ring holding the guide may be glued to the post. Only one O-Ring is allowed on the guide post.
8.2 It is possible to use shims between the guide blade and the chassis (guide shims), in order to make the front axle more efficient.
8.3 Only original BRM guide shims are allowed.
8.4 Only original BRM Contact Braids and spares are allowed. If BRM braid is not available for the BRM Wood track guide Scaleauto braid may be used.
8.5 Braid juice or chemicals may not be added to the braid at anytime; braid may be cleaned with a brush only.
8.6 Braids may be re-set by a Corner Worker in the Event of a crash. No other work can be done Trackside at all.
9. MOTORS, PINIONS
9.1 Only original BRM Electric Motors are allowed:****
9.1.1 BRM T-027 motor
9.1.2 BRM T-RS motor
9.1.3 BRM T-RS EVO (black label) designed for wooden tracks**** Due to a shortage of this motor Scaleauto motors may be spec’d from time to time. No other motors are allowed.
9.2 Only original BRM pinions are allowed; the number of teeth of the pinions is of free choice. (8,9 or 10)
9.3 When race motors are supplied by the race organization, they may be handed out with pinion and power cables. Type of motor and pinion will be decided by the race organization.
9.4 Motor and pinion cannot be changed unless under race direction authorization. This must be observed by a Race Official.
9.5 Motor cannot be fastened to the chassis by glue or tape.
9.6 Any maneuver to increase the motor's performance is forbidden, included running-in and use of performance enhancing liquid. To this purpose, the motor shall be assembled under scrutiniser’s surveillance during pre-race technical verifications and lubrication will be done with oil provided, or approved by the organizers.
9.7 Removal or opening of the identification label on the motor is prohibited. Motor leads must remain as supplied by BRM no modification to fitment or length allowed. Attachment eyelets may be soldered to the wires.
9.8 If fitted with a wood track guide, may modify lead wires to that fitment type.
9.9 New motors may be allowed in the future, if specifically notified by BRM Model Cars, with special modification of this technical regulation. Also race organizers may spec a motor of their choice from BRM or Scaleauto if other motors are not available.

9.6 Any maneuver to increase the motor's performance is forbidden, included running-in and use of performance enhancing liquid. To this purpose, the motor shall be assembled under scrutiniser’s surveillance during pre-race technical verifications and lubrication will be done with oil provided, or approved by the organizers.
9.7 Removal or opening of the identification label on the motor is prohibited. Motor leads must remain as supplied by BRM no modification to fitment or length allowed. Attachment eyelets may be soldered to the wires.
9.8 If fitted with a wood track guide, may modify lead wires to that fitment type.
9.9 New motors may be allowed in the future, if specifically notified by BRM Model Cars, with special modification of this technical regulation. Also race organizers may spec a motor of their choice from BRM or Scaleauto if other motors are not available.
