Add those Policar F1's and some digital chips and you'll only be another $500 in the hole. No I don't know if they are digital compatible but those modern F1's are pretty wide so a chip could fit.

Since updating to ver 4.0 my Carrera Position tower no longer displays laps at the top of the tower. It stays zero all of the time. Works ok if SmartRace is not used. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution? CU ver 337.

Saturday night race we had 5 racers and the screen only shows four? Anyone know how to fix that in SmartRace?

Well this post hasn't garnered any responses....maybe there is a better spot to discuss Smartrace?

I just added the Weather feature after upgrading to the latest release. I was a bit ticked after the new install as all the extra features I'd paid for were gone. Took a few days before I discovered the “refresh” feature which restored everything.
Anyhow, the weather feature has been a great add on that adds another element to racing. Have to be careful not inadvertently changing to the wrong tires when in the pits. Once everyone got the hang of it it works well. Being able to set the speeds for weather/tire combos is nice. Slicks and rain makes for slow speeds the way I have it set. Having the wrong tires really changes things up.

I'm having trouble getting to the pit to refuel, without the tires being also changed automatically, so I'm frequently ending up with the wrong tires for the prevailing weather. Am I doing something wrong?

One other thing :-) I set up penalties for crashing 5 seconds, but half the time you go in the pits to serve your penalty it works half the time it doesn’t ? Anyone have a fix for that?

If you pull into the pits, stop, and do nothing, tire change will begin. If action button is pressed, you take fuel first and then tire change will occur. You can also set the time for a tire change to happen. I use ten secs which works pretty well. If it was a bit longer you might stop inadvertent tire changes.
You really have to pay attention to the pit timer (far right on screen, below pit count box). If your not out of the pit and beyond 50% throttle tire change time is counting.

Make sure your not hitting the action button when going in to serve your penalty. You have to stop in the pit and do nothing to serve your penalty.

Found my tower lap count problem. You now have to enable it in Settings.

Does smartrace require you to have the driver position tower and driver displays for all the functions to work?

Would smart race add fun, or confusion for an 8 year old? Wondering if my daughter would like having all the info on her ipad in smartrace connect mode, or if I should just get the tower and driver displays for us.

You do not need driver displays or position tower for SmartRace functions. I don't think kids would find it confusing to use after a bit. You can also pick and choose what aspects come into play. You can shut off fuel, penalties, weather etc. Kids have no problems figuring out video games so info on a screen isn't going to slow them down. I think it adds alot of “play” value. They'll get a kick out of hearing their race names broadcast for sure.
