The key word is "regulated". I'm not the best at concise explanations so I'm not going to try to explain it all, but it's so much better than unregulated, which is what you get with the cheap PSUs.

BigT, I had similar problem a few years ago when I got back into slot car racing. We were using magnets, and running the cars at full power (wrecking our nice race cars) . Our problems went away
we started using good race tires, stopped using magnets, and slowing the speeds down using the CU or race program. We usually run 7 cars, 50 or 100 lap races. I'm
currently using a 3amp PS. Also maybe try resetting the CU. There is a YouTube video on this.

Cool it’s only happened twice to me after many hours racing. But the plan is to ween all the magnet guys off and move to mostly 1/24 cars after all my track and boarder get in . Then we’ll see for sure

Hey BigT. if you want a "real" challenge I think you should try to build this: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3og3b

                Or this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8dIwBhdDjQ

I tried to find these a couple weeks ago when demonstrating how well Carrera track conducts power.

Living in the Pacific Northwest means "playing with electricity in the rain" is a daily occurrence...LOL

If it weren’t for bad luck this week I wouldn’t have any luck at all. Guess I have plenty of time to clean up tomorrow, sleeping in is in order.

BigT-I like the paint colors. I feel your pain waiting on track, but just remember you get another Christmas!
