Carrera 26733 Chip questions

It looks like this hip can be used in cars beyond the Porsche/Audi Carrera says it fits; based on a forum search. I am planning to put it in a 2011 vintage Evolution and was trying to find a pinout for the lights, but many of the links in the sticky are broken. Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

If this is the chip shape you have then this is the wire setup. The grn/ylo is the front headlights and the tan/whi are the taillights. All the chips no matter the shape serve the same function. You can put the smaller 732 chip in there and do the same thing. The only thing that MAY be different is the LED placement. That's not an issue either as you just drill a hole in the chassis where the new LED meets the chassis. Finding the older chip that you have is difficult to find nowadays.

it is Thanks. I've Dona test fit and it will clear. My shim 1/16 to ensure front wheels and ma =mount don't short circuit the board.

Question on lights - the Ferrari chassis has what looks to be holders for LEDs for the lights just above each wheel. Will 3 or 5 mm white LEDs work? 12 V In line resistor? If I can find teh right LEDs and plug I'll wire up my own light set.

That little square plug in the chassis is removable for digital chip installation. That's where the LED should be poking out. I believe the chip should be turned around so that the wider end is at the front of the car.

Thanks. The problem with flipping the chip is the led then is on the right side not left. I thought about soldering one to the chip to put it in the chassis hole bit decided to see if having it an 1/2 inch back would impact tripping the lane changers in time.

Yes pull the light plug out of the chassis and run the lights through the chip. The lights through the chip however use 3V. 3mm should be a good size. I bought them in bulk off the bay years ago and still have about half left.

Thanks. If having the IR led 1/2 behind the chassis hole causes issues with lane change sensor I'll have to adapt the mounting bracket. The Ferrari seems to have enough space under the body panels to do that; but I'll first do a test run to see if it works with the hole I made.

I'm ordering a bunch off of Amazon; will need to buy 20 or so more cars to convert...

Is there a polarity to the chip's head / tail lights or does it not matter how the LED + / _ is attached to the chip?

There is a polarity. The longer leg is usually the positive. To be honest, what it do a lot of the time is have the car on the track with the light wires plugged in to the chip and then just touch the lights to the wires on the plug. One way will light em up and the other won't. Won't burn anything up.

Thanks. I was planning to do just that using some small gate clips. I may build several sets just n case I decide to do some more cars Now, if I could just find some small headlight lens to fit to a 914 from SRC...

One other question - all the prewired LEDs appear to have a resistor in them - does that mater? I'd use prewired if possible to save some soldering.

Tested car yesterday and lane changing works fine. Looks like I'll have to solder in new wire connectors for lights as I cannot find plugs that fit the Carrera plugs. I plan to use surface mount LEDs.

Let there be light. Cobra and Ferrari have lights. Ferrari was custom harness including connectors, Cobra used connectors removed from digital chipp in Ferrari.

Very good. It's very satisfying when you can put things in that weren't there and can get them to work.

Yes. Most of the chips are the same chip, with the exception of the F1 chip.
