    I bought a digital set that was NOS and thus never used but probably out of warranty as a result so hoping I can get advice on fixing a problem. It is the 132 "Streamline" set, both cars are the classic Auto Union and Mercedes LeMan racers. They have the horrible skinny tires but the same wheelbase but the Auto Union car will not go through a turn at any speed. Faster is better but if you have to throttle down due to no wall or something to keep on track, it just spins the tires and burns the rubber.

    All wheels roll freely, there was some problem out of the box with the front wheels getting tangled in the internal wire connectors but I have tucked them away better and front wheels turn freely now but it just simply will not make a turn, it just comes to a complete halt and tires spin as long as I'm on the throttle and it just sits there.

    Is the guide getting stuck in the slot? This shouldn't happen with Carrera track, but if there's a bad piece of track, or something wrong with the guide, or both, it could get stuck in the slot. Is it ALL turns, or just a particular spot? Is the magnet still in the car? Have you tried scuffing the tires on sandpaper to take the slick outside layer of old rubber off?

      Haven't seen the cars described in the post- but I had a 599 Ferrari years ago that I reviewed for Dave, and it would hang in spots on my track because it was so low, and had so much magnetic downforce, the tires would spin.

        Get 2 other modern 132 cars like the DTM's...you won't beleive the difference !
        Your cars are just good to put on a shelf in a museum...nothing else !

          I know on my carrera track scaley gt40's will do the same (when running shorter afternarket tires) due to lack of ground clearance. Same symptoms you describe, works fine (sorta) with some speed but if you let up it hangs up.

          Stock carrera cars should be fine in a box set, age of tires will cause lack of traction but it should still clear the track unless there is a big change in angle from one section to the next where it stops at? Is this happening mid track piece or at joints in the sections?

            It is stock, so all magnets still there. It stops in any curve, not just one and any curve angle. The other car is essentially the same and I tested the guide tension and they feel the same, so it should be fine to turn as the next one. Agree with the one poster - these may be shelf queens given the skinny tires but I prefer they run.

              scuff the tires on sandpaper to give them proper traction

                Shorten the guide flag. All will be well.

                  If the guide rotates side to side freely and the spring returns it to center, I think that is working correctly. Don't shorten the guide flag, as this could cause problems closing the lane changers.
                  The tires on both of the streamliners are narrow and if this is an old (NOS) set, the tires may have gotten hard. Try sanding them to see if that helps.
                  Just run the back tires on some sandpaper. You may still end up getting new tires though.

                    If the problem happens in R1 turns, then your guide flag is too short.

                      I doubt it's the guide flag. If he were running on another brand of track, or a wood track, maybe. But not on stock Carrera plastic. My bet is still with traction and magnets. Not enough of one, too much of the other.

                        My bet is the original issue is still a factor. The first post mentioned something with the wires binding the front tires/axle and I think that might still be an issue. Duderaines, take your car off the track and move the guide from one side to the other and make sure your front tires still turn freely.

                          To your point Mickey, do you think this problem could be cause by one of the front axle bushings being out of its seat?

                            The magnets do seem much stronger than my other cars. Anything that can be done about that?

                              Take one of them out. Start with the one at/between/behind the rear wheels, leaving the other one in, and see if the car can make the turn.
