Can't believe it has been almost 3 years since I purchased all the stuff to make this happen and I am finally getting to it.

After a complete basement remodel I am ready to install this feature.

Looking for any feedback from others that have implemented Ed's call buttons and with the beacon. I have built the circuit and tested that it works by turning on and off the beacon but have not tested on the track yet.

Before I start installing buttons and running wire, are there any issues with the latest code as it works with Bruce's software?

It appears all the images, files, and links that were connected to this thread have disappeared with the migration to the new web server. Although, Ed does have the Arduino code in his profile.

Fortunately, I grabbed code and image files prior to the site migration. I am willing to repost that stuff that Ed had originally posted if wanted by others. Just let me know.

Mainly looking for feedback to any issues that might occur with the call buttons or beacon before I start installation.

    Thanks,

    TRU

It appears that since the SCI rebuild, much of the links and images have disappeared from this thread. Therefore, I thought I would revitalize this thread with files I grabbed prior to the SCI meltdown. You can get the Arduino files from Ed's profile

These files should be helpful as well.

Still curious if anyone has run in into any negative issues running this Call Button circuit.

Just wanted to give an update on my BRB and Beacon setup.

It works almost flawlessly. Thank you Ed for designing and sharing this great solution. It really makes the racing much more enjoyable and more manageable.

I say almost flawlessly as I have experienced one minor burp in the system. No fault to Ed's design or the code. But on occasion the relay will not trigger to turn on or off the beacon light. Really not a big deal. I wonder if a solid state relay would behave better???

One of my buttons was stuck in position out of the package. After disassembly and reassembly of the the button switch all has worked out great. Overall, a great DIY project.

          Thanks again ED!!!

Thanks TRU - I'm still around and kicking - thanks for reposting the links & videos - I had put some of it back over on a Home Racing World page but hadn't gotten around to rebuilding it over here.

I have observed the phenomenon you described with minor inconsistency in the triggering of the beacon...they can then end up out of phase and you need to use the space bar to get you back in to sync (the space bar doesn't turn the relay on/off. I think it relates to my code making 2 different determination on the button press - one for the spacebar startlight function and a second for the relay...they use slightly different code routines.....what i have seen work the best to trigger both is a firm but not too fast press of the button..If you smack it real hard you'll most likely miss the beacon 10-20% of the time...

I do still have several sets of programmed boards boxes & if anyone is interest in more of a turnkey... PM me if you're interested

              Cheers

                Ed,

Curious... your designed implemented a 2 relay switch. For what did you use the second switch? You use 2 beacons?
