  • MSC Camel McLaren F1 GTR

I've read in some other threads here about people wanting to know what liveries could be applied to the cars that are already painted from the factory. Here is my take on a yellow one. I won this car in last years all Canadian proxy earlier this year so the colour choice was out of my hands. I was too lazy to completely disassemble the car so I could repaint it in a different colour so I searched around looking for a livery that would work with the car as it came. This is the result. I will be entering this car in the 2016 Canadian Proxy, hopefully it performs as well as it looks.

Very nice indeed! Are the decals peal and stick or water type?

How wide of a rear tire can be fit under this car and Not extend outside of the body when looking down from above?

The upcoming Canada proxy for the MR. Slotcar McLaren allows a 17 x10 rear wheel......and a 21 x 12 rear tire for these wheels fits under the wheel arches without issue....bear in mind that the 17 x 10 wheels used do not have inside boss.

                    Cheers

Because of the proxy rules we were limited to the use of Paul Gage tires. I installed a set of his 20105 tires which are about 10 mm wide and I would say that's about as wide as you can go without cutting some of the motor shaft off at the pinion. There is just enough clearance with these tires. I did try installing a set of wheels from a Slot.it McLaren with some S2s installed but on the pinion side the tire interfered with the motor pinion shaft and there wasn't really good clearance on the body side either if you wanted to maintain some sort of body float. Cutting off the end of the motor shaft would give you some room to maneuver but not a lot. I doubt you will have to worry about the tire/wheel protruding from the body as the body sits so low on the chassis that it would be pretty much impossible to do that without lifting the body up off the chassis.

I can say this, with S2s on this car it was an absolute rocket on our 6 lane wood club track. With this motor and 13 volts the car is a real handful. You get used to it but it has a lot of motor with the stock gearing. It will not be passed on the straights that is for sure.

if the total width of the wheel and tire is less then 10 millimetres you should be OK. Any wider than that and you will need to get your power tools out and cut down the motor shaft at the pinion to gain some extra clearance.

Thanks, looking at close ups of the chassis it appears to be fairly wide.
