  • Fast on Wood & Plastic

Is Ernie's car the best on the market? There are people far wiser than me to judge that, but if a survey came out asking which is the best car out of the box between, NSR, Racer Sideways, and MR SlotCar's McLaren, it would be tough call for me. may be the easiest to un-crate and run, but I think Ernie's new McLaren may be the car that takes the least tuning to go fast. And when comparing stock motors and set ups, it may be the fastest of them all. (Unless you have long straights)

I ran in two races this week, one on wood, one on plastic (with magnet), and came away with 2 wins. All I'd really done to the car was put in an independent front axle, adjusted that with grub screws, put on a pair of shaved Ferrari 312 rubber tires on the front, and ran DART Group C urethane rears on wood, and 1403 Super Tire silicone rears on plastic. I also swapped out Ernie's magnet in front of the engine for a Scaley bar magnet glued behind the engine (we're only allowed 100 grams of magnetic downforce). I've also run the car on the same plastic track without a magnet and found it to be as quick as anything else in my box, and all those quick cars have more powerful motors.

    Well done Ernie!

I agree, it's a great car and I love mine. You also have great taste as your car is the same colour as mine and everyone knows blue ones are fastest!
