Does anyone have a WAM they no longer want?

About 6 weeks ago while participating in a race at a commercial establishment one of my fellow racers offered to hook my WAM up to the terminals at the driver's station for my next lane. Unfortunately he hooked the leads up to the wrong terminals and as soon as the power came on at the start of the heat the brake circuit in my WAM got fried. After correctly hooking up the leads I discovered I had no brakes. The power circuit was unaffected and works correctly but the controller has no brakes.
I contacted Rick at Scorpius after discovering that Professor Motor no longer carries the WAM for analog use and he told me to order a new one from his web site. I ordered it on Feb.2, 2018 and as of Saturday March 19, 2018 I have heard nothing from the man down under. I have sent 2 emails inquiring about the status of my order and so far he hasn't replied.
I am disabled and it is difficult for me to move between 8 driver's stations during a race plus from my wheelchair it is difficult for me to see portions of the lane I am driving in at that lanes driver's station so having the wireless controller is a big help.

So I am asking here if anyone who purchased the WAM for analog racing is no longer using it. I will pay a fair price to obtain one in working order. As an alternative I am asking if anyone knows how to rewire the brake circuit and obtain 100% brakes as I don't need the variable brake portion of the circuit. Thanks for reading my post.

Oh crap...I just ordered a controller and a WAM from Scorpius. There has been no contact from Scorpius in Australia, but Professor Motor sent out the controller right away. I guess I have to put my name on the list behind yours for a WAM! Come on Scorpius, get your s*#t together!!!

I have finally, after two months received my WAM. Since all the programming is in the controller I just hooked it up and was ready to go.

I appears that the new WAM may be defective. Both I and Fotodoug are experiencing a similar problem. Sometimes during a heat the power seems to fluctuate cutting top speed in half or more. The problem is cured by disconnecting the WAM and reconnecting it. Sometimes the problem comes back and sometimes it doesn't. It's as if some component is overheating drawing down the power. At first I thought it was my slot car but when I replaced it with another the same thing happened. It has also happened at my home track as well as the commercial track I race at.

After all that waiting I was forced to race using a backup Professor Motor controller at the commercial track I race at. The scorpius was only delivering about 90% top power no matter what setting I used. On a large track like the one I was racing on it was costing me about 8 to 10 feet every lap so when I switched to the PM controller my lap times went way down. At home on my relatively short track, 12 ft. straights, the difference is negligible. My old WAM didn't have this problem with 1/32 cars. Oh well.

Did you reboot the software on the WAM and the Controller?

Check the magnet distance to sensor on the trigger....
I moved mine a bit closer to the sensor because of the same issue

The WAM (and controller and dongle) that I recently sold to fotodoug are brand new but have been laying around for a couple of years, I think I bought them from Rick somewhere around 2014.

So they’re definitely not from the same batch as yours, so I guess Rossko could be right.

Now I'm confused. I was sure that fotodoug reported that he had received the WAM that he ordered from Rick and that it is the one he's having trouble with. I am on the verge of ordering the other one that lowlandsrider has in the hope that since it is an older version it won't have any problems.

Bob, if the WAM is not working properly you should contact Rick and claim a repair/replacement under warranty.

Do you have a Scorpius dongle? You might need to reflash the firmware, which, I believe, recalibrates the throttle. Then, so long as your throttle curve doesn't have a limit to the top speed, it should give full throttle. There should be no need to "fix" the position of the magnet or hall sensor. Rick should be able to confirm if this is the case, so it's certainly worth contacting him about the problem. Please be sure and post the outcome of your conversation, if it's private.

I think I have one more option before trying to contact Rick. I noticed that internally there are two stops that limit the travel of the trigger. The pin that limits the full throttle travel appears to have a slight amount of adjustment available so I will make that adjustment and see whether it enables full power. If that doesn't produce the desired results I will try to contact Rick although he seems to be virtually incognito as of late.

I have also noticed that lately the trigger itself has been somewhat wobbley and may need a bit of tightening.

As it appears to have turned out the partial throttle response with my controller was due to the trigger stop not being as far forward as it should have been. On my short track at home the slight power loss wasn't noticeable but on the giant track at Daytona the cars were noticeably slower down the main straight. So the problem was mechanical and had nothing to do with the electronics or the WAM. The original problem happened so soon after trying the controller on the big track that the power problem was never noticed until I got the new WAM.
