  • SCX NASCAR #21 Coast Guard Question

Does anyone know if the SCX NASCAR Coast Guard #21 Kevin Harvick Car came out in digital? I have only seen analog and I am interested in getting the digital version. If it's analog only can it be converted with one of the kits? If so, which kit is needed?

    Thanks.

Is switching just the body a possibility?

If that works then yes. Are all the bodies interchangable between analog and Digital chasis? I am very new to this.

        I ain't a digital guy, but.....

.....be aware that there are differences in the older style SCX Nascars, so you would need to find an old style Chevrolet digital car, and then put the Coast Guard body on it.

All the SCX COT bodies are interchangable as far as I know, with the minor exception of the paint color on the front lower grill area which is attached to the chassis, not the body.

If i undestand correctly, cot interchange with cot's and the old body style interchange with the old? So i couldn't put the old style on a cot chasis?

The car only came out in analog and with the RX-42B motor.

You can easily convert this car w/ the V1 chip set. However, the only minor issue is that you'll need to get the appropriate front wheels for the car that work on the stub axles (the COT front wheels would work). Bryan Young from SCX can provide those wheels.

In buying the analog car and v1 chipset I would still need front wheels? What's the reasoning the wheels it comes with wont work?

V1 kit does not come w/ NASCAR wheels. It only has wheels made for WTTC, GT, and DTM cars.

If you request Bryan to send you wheels because of this particular situation, it's like a warranty claim and he should be accommodating to you.

Oh also LDFan, do you know which kit will convert the SCX NASCAR goodwrench 29 Harvick car from analog to digital? Seems hard to find the digital version

If the car is the SCX-62190, that is the older Aero NASCAR which means it's a V1 chip. Have you actually found this car recently? I know it's been out of production for quite some time. Also, you'll still need wheels from Bryan Young (SCX Tech).

As to your previous question on the chip, all the Aero NASCAR's (rear tail) are V1 and the COT NASCAR's (rear wing) are V2. The only difference I can see between the chips are a redesign of the overall shell (V2 is meant to be a tad bit smaller than V1) and a slight change to the brass pick-up arms. Also, electronically they are the same from what I can tell.

All new molds (chassis) made after 2008 will from now on incorporate the V2 design. Thus, it's hard to describe just by looking @ a car as to which chip it will utilize (SCX will continue to make new cars that take a V1 if they continue to produce new liveries of that particular car). The best thing to do is just look for our guide sheet that points out which car gets what chip on the SCXWW resource page.

yes, all the SCX COT chassis, both regular and Pro, will interchange with all the COT bodies. But for the earlier Aero version cars, with the spoiler on the rear, rather than the COT wing, the chassis are unique to the brand of car.....Ford, Chevy or Dodge.

That is correct. Have fun with the conversion.
