  • New SCX NASCAR Set Now In Stock?

Apparently, Bass Pro Shops has managed yet another exclusive SCX NASCAR set for the holiday season. Their website lists the set as 'in stock' but I think that's for the online store. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shop...y2013retar_DIS The site states that free shipping is available for orders over $99 or you can have it shipped to a local store.

The set is a $160 analog set using "Universal Track" and includes two new NASCAR slot cars - Tony Stewart's 2013* Bass Pro Shops Chevy and Danica Patrick's 2013* GoDaddy Chevy. While the paint schemes are this year's, the molds the cars were made with are four or five years old. These cars were made with the COT body style which has wings on the rear decklid instead of spoilers.

As a NASCAR fan, I am torn whether or not to get this set. In the past, some of the Bass Pro Shops sets' cars were not available individually. So, if I want one or both of them, I'll have to get the set - which kind of sucks because I definitely don't need any more "Universal track". Also, while the paints are new, they are on the wrong style body (because SCX never updated the NASCAR molds). Finally, while I think Tony Stewart is a good driver, I am not a fan of Danica Patrick. However, these are most likely the last NASCAR cars that SCX will ever make.

Decisions, decisions. At least I have this problem as opposed to nothing new to think about. Maybe I'll get the set a make anyone who deslots too often drive the Danica car.

One last thing - if anyone buys this set, please reply to this post with what kind of motors come in the cars. Since it's an analog set, I assume they will be RX-42B or possibly even RK-42. Since I am a digital racer, I hope they aren't RX-42B's because that means I'll need to spend even more to getting them running. (As a rule, I don't run 42B motors to decrease the likelihood of melting chips)

Personally, I think the shot of Tony Stewart racing his new SCX slot car against some lucky kid is priceless.

I stopped by my local Bass Pro Shop and found that they did have at least two of these sets in stock. I can confirm that this set is an ANALOG set (despite have a Digital Logo on one of the in-store displays). I can also confirm that the cars in this set have RK-42 motors.

The store I visited had one of the sets setup for kids to play on. I did notice that one of the two Tony Stewart cars they had out said "Patrick" on the windshield. I hope that it just a one off fluke and not a potential quality control issue.

P.S. Thanks to AhabDarab for lending me a 'hand' with this.

That stinks that they would have those cars only in Analog....I would add them to my collection in a heartbeat.

Don't dismiss them yet. The cars are easily digitized with a V2 Digitalization kit (V2 Chip & V2 Digital Guide Pin). The RK-42 motors should be friendly to the chip because of the lower current draw. The only issue is that the RK-42 is faster than the RX-42 so it may not be fair to race it against other cars with those RX motors.

As far as the track - it's "universal" so it's techincally compatible with all SCX digital track. You just need to be mindful of where you place it if you use a Chrono, Lap Counter or Lighted Bridge.

Personally, I will eventually get them, insert a RX-42 motor when I digitize them and pretend the wings are spoilers.

I just don't want to drop $160 for 2 cars...I hope they come out with them individually....I see still have digital conversion kits to use up

              run on down....

....to your local Bass Pro Shop and pick up the new cars individually.....hopefully??!! I sure hope that they sell the cars by themselves rather than as a part of a set only.

Saw a TV commercial for Bass Pro and the slot cars and they were running the oval.....BASS-ACKWARDS!!!!!

Them TV people are so clueless sometimes.

Out of Stock? Where's Carrera when you need them

Just tried the web site link and then searched the Bass Pro Shops web site manually. The Danica SCX set must be sold out on-line.

If you find on in a store buy it and then put it on ebay. Could bring a nice profit if the cars are not sold separately.

I thought Carrera was interested in selling the Danica Patrick Gen 6 car. Once again the US market is ignored by our friends at Carrera.

You waited too long. Bass Pro closes their Santa's wonderland after Christmas has begun. Perhaps if you contact Bass Pro directly they may be able to help you. There is also a small chance that your local Bass Pro Shop store may have not sold the last of their stock.

I may have one set for sale for $150 plus shipping. Should find out later today. It is brand new and has not been opened. They were holding it at the Bass Pro Shops for a customer but has not picked it up in several days. They will let me purchase tonight if it has not been picked up. Let me know if anyone interested in purchasing.
