Apparently, Bass Pro Shops has managed yet another exclusive SCX NASCAR set for the holiday season. Their website lists the set as 'in stock' but I think that's for the online store. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shop...y2013retar_DIS The site states that free shipping is available for orders over $99 or you can have it shipped to a local store.
The set is a $160 analog set using "Universal Track" and includes two new NASCAR slot cars - Tony Stewart's 2013* Bass Pro Shops Chevy and Danica Patrick's 2013* GoDaddy Chevy. While the paint schemes are this year's, the molds the cars were made with are four or five years old. These cars were made with the COT body style which has wings on the rear decklid instead of spoilers.
As a NASCAR fan, I am torn whether or not to get this set. In the past, some of the Bass Pro Shops sets' cars were not available individually. So, if I want one or both of them, I'll have to get the set - which kind of sucks because I definitely don't need any more "Universal track". Also, while the paints are new, they are on the wrong style body (because SCX never updated the NASCAR molds). Finally, while I think Tony Stewart is a good driver, I am not a fan of Danica Patrick. However, these are most likely the last NASCAR cars that SCX will ever make.
Decisions, decisions. At least I have this problem as opposed to nothing new to think about. Maybe I'll get the set a make anyone who deslots too often drive the Danica car.
One last thing - if anyone buys this set, please reply to this post with what kind of motors come in the cars. Since it's an analog set, I assume they will be RX-42B or possibly even RK-42. Since I am a digital racer, I hope they aren't RX-42B's because that means I'll need to spend even more to getting them running. (As a rule, I don't run 42B motors to decrease the likelihood of melting chips)
