The only remaining oddity in my set is the one piece of track in the pit lane that should have the "ES" to complete "BOXES" doesn't have those 2 letters, but does have the "slow down" markings on the other side.
Thanks again all to the help I've received here. You guys are awesome!

Excellent! The power of the forum has shown itself well. I'm really glad that you were able to get the set up to snuff without too much difficulty. Your son should have a blast on his birthday.

That is a known (yet minor) issue in that some of the pit tracks have "BOXES" spelled out and some don't. It probably was a decision by SCX @ some point to make any recent production runs without it but yet they still inadvertantly mixed the batch of tracks.
Overall, I don't think it's a big deal because @ some point you'll probably expand the pit lane and then you'll have "BOX" and "ES" on opposite sides of the pits which makes even less sense.

I looked for that "ES" piece for a couple of years, when adding our 2nd pit row lane. Finally found one to acquire. Now, months later - there are several + listed on the 'Bay... Just an aesthetic issue, as said above - both track pieces work the same.... Glad your up & running !
