Power Supply for the Tire Razoor

    More sophisticated power supplies often have protective circuits that will shut them down if the load is too great. Sometimes the power supply will have to be cycled off and on if that happens. The motor in a Tire Razor probably draws more than 2 amps for an instant when it starts up and possibly that is what is causing your problem. Another 2 amp power supply might not be so fussy.

      I use a tattoo power supply (2.0 amp, 0-15 Volts). Start out at 4 volts to kiss off the high spots, ramp up to 6 volts once I have a nice true "strip" (30-50% of the width) on the tire and finish it off. Usually light pressure. Unless it is a gummy rubber compound (some FLY's, all SCX) then I keep the voltage down around 3.5-4.0 volts, really light pressure.
