  • BRM Ferrari 512M white kit

I've been thinking about building my first white model kit, and "think" I've decided on which to build. The Ferrari 512M is a great looking car, and I own both the BRM #9 Yellow and #7 Red Camel Filter cars. Ever since I saw the Blue #11 Sunoco car I've looked for it online (for years!). It's unobtainable at this point in time (unless the universe lines up in my favor!), so I'd like to build it from the white kit. Here's the issue... I can't find a decal set that'll allow me to build it! Does anyone know if a decal set even exists for the #11 Sonoco Ferrari 512M?
Here's a video clip of the real #6 car.

Bruce Patterson (Pattos' Place) does decal sheets for the Sunoco 512's (any scale) .........get the waterslide version, not the peel and stick.......a little more work/care is needed with the waterslides', but, they result in a much nicer job.

    Cheers

Here is a 1/24 Ferrari 512M (lexan body) done with Pattos' decals.........this was done as #6,........#11 is also on the same sheet.

WoW Chris great looking car!! That's exactly what I want to do! I tried finding them at Pattos' but I must not have looked hard enough!
Are the tire decals part of the Pattos decal kit also or did you use a stencil from somewhere?

It is a great looking car , but, it is not one of mine.............I stole the shot from the Gallery on the Pattos' site. It was built by Mathias Parkes, who does some very fine work on clear (lexan) shells.

As far as tire marking decals, they are not included with the 512M sunoco sheet from Pattos, but, he and Michael at Indycals do make tire marking decals. If used on rubber or urethane tires they are OK, (at best) but will be far from suitable for either silicone or sponge tires.

You will need to use some Micro sol/set, or other decal setting solution, and as they are very fragile, they should be coated with a bit of flat clear, after the decals have fully dried. Even then, durability (if you are racing) is not great.

PS....Look for "Frrari 512M Sunoco" on Pattos' site,........and make sure to pick the appropriate scale.

        Cheers

Thanks again Chris for those resources and tips on the tire markings. Found the sheet!

Spotted in a Swiss museum in December 2018.
I doubt the authenticity as a Penske car.
