Do any manufactures make a 1/24 scale Indy cars ?

Hi BigT,.......The quick answer is Yes !!!,.........but it depends on what you are looking for/planning to do.

JK makes a several liveries of current RTR Indy cars...........these have lexan bodies, metal chassis, sponge tires, and are much more at home on Commercial type tracks

Plafit and others make F1/Indy chassis kits suitable for mounting model kit, and or, lexan bodies...............many European clubs run these on both wood and Carrera plastic tracks.

Then there are many 1/24 Vintage Indy cars......................

Really depends on what you are looking for

What size motor is that on the Euro chassis?
      It looks awfully puny.

It is an FF050, but, with polyneo magnets and a solid 31 gauge wind, with a small comm advance.........plenty for mid size (100-125ft) club tracks.

And, size does not always matter...........the motor installed in the 1/24 Eurosport chassis below is even tinier......I have placed an FF050, and a typical FC-130 alongside for comparison.

The motor in the car turns likely in the 200K range, and has tons of torque !!

        Cheers

I came across a Facebook post of a ScaleAuto-chassied F1 Ferrari last week that used an F050 motor. Needless to say, a bit surprised.
Car was owned by Dave Deube (sp?).
Any specific 050 motors you’d recommend for a typical Carrera home track?

Hi Bill, It depends what you are normally running/running against.....and, whether you run with/without magnets. I will assume you run sans magnets.

The Policar 25K FF050 is very nice, and took the top 3 places in a recent proxy where the motor choice was either the Policar 050, or an FC-130 at 20K or less. This Motor does develop less torque than a typical FC-130, so should be geared numerically higher, but, it does weigh several gms. less which certainly helps with handling. This motor does have a short(ish) motor shaft, so works best in either sidewinder/anglewinder, or inlines configurations where a long motor shaft is not required.

A couple of pics. of the top 2 chassis..........

For something a little more,........the 35K neo magnet FF050 from Prof. Mtr. (I am not sure if Alan also sells these), is a good choice. This also needs a high numeric ratio, and I have used a 7T pinion and a 31T Spur,...this runs very competitively with my 22/25K FC-130's

Even the stock Scaley etc. FF050's work very well, but, must be geared appropriately, and used in the correct chassis.

            Cheers
