Hudy tyre truer drum

I've put it off long enough, I've tried a slide on grinder drum and it was OK for a few tyres but bit the bullet tonight and ordered a Ralph Thorne 80 grit 'For Ever' drum for the Hudy

...just have to wait now and hope customs don't get their hands on it...

Sometimes yes, I didn't want to buy two drums and can easily polish trued rubber in other ways after the Hudy.

One of the guys in my club tried using a diamond coated drum and that lasted about two years doing silicone tires. If you are doing tough silicone tires 80 grit sounds right, using a finer grit would take forever even if you kept squirting soap solution on the drum to keep it from blinding over. Using the coarse grit does result in having a tread that is not perfectly smooth, some makes of silicone tires will quickly polish on the track while others will need to be polished on a skid pad or with fine sandpaper.

Yea, I recently bought the "standard" drum for mine.
While the diamond drum might be cool, it's WAY too expensive. It doesn't even have "real", earth grown diamonds bonded to it. They are laboratory grown.
The only other one I found is/was a drum that you add your own "Dremel" tool style sanding...whatever they are called.
