  • Scorpius?

The Scorpius forum seems to be dead, no posts in 3 years. So, I thought i might ask here... is Scorpius a viable system? Conceptually, it seems like the perfect setup. But, they seem to have some issues. Also, I can't seem to find anything that indicates recent sales activity.

I think you'll find that the Slot.it subforum fo oXigen may help, here?

Thanks. I'll start doing some serious research on oXigen.

Scorpius is still a thing. You can get it direct from his web site, scorpiuswireless dot com.
He's currently completely revamping his entire product line, though he says everything should be backward compatible. I don't think he's specifically addressed forward compatibility, though (e.g. will old hardware be able to work with new hardware/software).
It's certainly a feature packed system.

Do you already have a track of any kind? Are you planning to build a new track from scratch? Routed or plastic?

Personally, I prefer oXigen for a variety of reasons, but there are Scorpius users out there.

What region of the world are you in? Would you be willing to share your city/state/country? You might discover there is someone not too far that has a digital system of some kind. It makes a lot of sense to choose the same system if that's the case.

I currently have a 3 lane, 61' analog MDF track (image attached), but that track will remain as is. I will be routing a new digital track in MDF. I plan on a 3 lane "dirt track" oval. I live in a Milwaukee suburb and slot cars are not popular here. There is some interest in HO, but that's about it. I have a Carrera switching section and couple pieces of track I am playing with, to see if I can fit it into an MDF track.

I have many years experience with RC cars and helicopters, so the Scorpius 2.4g system really caught my attention. I was especially interested in their wireless controllers that I can connect to my analog driver stations with the analog interface. But location, availability and reported problems are a concern. I will definitely see what oXigen has to offer. I do not like Carrera or Scalextric. I am in no hurry. I still have a lot to learn about 3D printing to make my own bodies, chassis, motor pods and nerf bars.

Scorpius is still quite alive and moving ahead. Most of the discussion is over on the "other" forum.
I put up a post last week (down in the Scorpius section here) about the newest version of the race control software. Lots of new features to check out.
