    Round Wheels are Good!

    Austin,

I put machined wheels on almost all of the slot cars I race,
except those cars that compete in box-stock classes that
    don't allow them.

The rear axle "kits" from Slot.It are a good value, when you
consider that these kits contain everything needed including
    resin inserts.

I normally buy entire kits even if I'm replacing the front wheels.
The unused gears and bearings find their way into other chassis
when I use narrow BWA wheels and inserts on vintage era cars
such as the Pink-Kar Ferrari GTOs.

BWA has a good selection of wheel insert styles for older cars,
so I can usually find a style that's prototypical for the era, and
IndyGrips has a range of New Compound silicones designed
specifically for both BWA and Slot.It hubs.

The Slot.It Sidewinder kits are brilliant too, with their unique
method of changing gear diameters while maintaining the
    correct motor/axle centers.

A dab of Walther's Goo on the axle center keeps the resin
inserts from coming out, so I can maintain the "scale"
realism that attracted me to 1:32 slot cars in the first place.

The axle kits are great too for converting Ninco slot cars to
    industry standard axle diameters.

I've bought some of the new NSR stuff, but as yet haven't
done much with them other than test their tire compounds.

NSR claims that their tires are good for a tenth or two,
but my tests using NSR tires v. IndyGrips haven't proved
    this yet.

I usually load up on Slot.It axle kits when Fantasy World
runs one of their holiday specials, instead of buying three
or four kits a month at full-boat retail. That way I'm always
assured of having what I need on-hand when I buy a new
    slot car.

I also race HO, where the after-market wheels are normally
machined Delrin. I've always wondered why none of the
    1:32 scale after-market wheel-makers use this material.

A black Delrin press-on hub would be a nice item in my
opinion, but until I find a turret lathe owner willing to
make some, I'll probably never have a set.

    So to answer your survey...

      After Market wheels

How many sets do you have now: 30+

Do you use them with aftermarket axles about 1/2 the time: Yes, I've used Spririt hollow, Slot-it's and Professor Motor solids axles.

How many do you buy a month: 2 sets average

Do you buy wheels set only mostly - I'll buy full sets, indy grips and inserts

Do you buy wheel and axle sets only when needed - no, I stock up when I can.

Which brand do you like best Slot.it, BWA - BWA is the best... I prefer the quality, plus the finih look of the inserts.

Do you use them only on the rear: I set up all four wheels at the same time.

Do you use wheel inserts with them all ways - Yes

After market wheels, we all use them:

How many sets do you have now? 23 I think. They're kinda scattered around...

Do you use them with aftermarket axles? Always.

How many do you buy a month? It probably averages out to about a set a month, but I tend to buy them in batches.

Do you buy wheels set only? Yep, probably about half the time.

Do you buy wheel and axle sets? Yup, depends on what I need.

Which brand do you like best? Slot.it for race cars, BWA for pretty cars.

Do you use them only on the rear? Usually all four.

Do you use wheel inserts with them? With the BWAs yes. I only have one set of Slot.its with inserts because I don't run cars that look right with those sorts of wheel inserts.

How many sets do you have now? At the moment, 2 or 3 sets, the rest is on the market.

Do you use them with aftermarket axles? Always.

How many do you buy a month? None, but I produce like 1000 of each size every 6 month.

Do you buy wheels set only? N/A

Do you buy wheel and axle sets? Nope, I buy a batch of axles in 3" lenght, and cut them down to size. Much cheaper than the alternative.

Which brand do you like best? I only use SlotLine, I have too .

Do you use them only on the rear? Always all four.

Do you use wheel inserts with them? Nope, but I have made a few rims for inserts in the past.

How many sets do you have now: Probably 20-25 sets

Do you use them with aftermarket axles: Usually

How many do you buy a month: 1-2 pairs on average, but I buy them in batches.

Do you buy wheels set only: Mostly

Do you buy wheel and axle sets: Rarely, I keep a stock of replacement axles.

Which brand do you like best: So far Slot It have been my favoured brand, but BWA is now a strong contender.

Do you use them only on the rear: Rarely, only on a few race cars.

Do you use wheel inserts with them: Always, but I sometimes remove the inserts before racing.
