  • Deciding on New Car

Looking for a LMP car and cant make a decison as to which I want.

Looking at Scaley Peugeout 908,the New Racer/Sideways Dallara DP,and Slot it Mclaren. Have a slot it Castrol Jaguar would like to get the 92 Daytona Bud Light Jag but my local Hobby Shop cant get as it is discontinued.

Any thoughts or advice pros or cons to each?

    Thanks in Advance

Any of these would be good, but myself (and many others in our club) have found the Peugeot to be way over-magged. Between that and the guide breakage issue they've experienced with their cars, any of the other three (Racer/Sideways or Slot. Its) would win in the car decision contest.

Besides, the Slot.It cars are your best bang for the buck, anyway.

I love my 3 Racer DP's, and need to find a way to justify the money for the Dallara as it's the best looking so far.

I also love all of the slot.it cars I have, and find them to be my favorites to tinker with.

I think both of those options are far above the Scaley car, but I've had some bad experiences...

      Cheers!

If you're referring to Slot It SICA13A Bud Light Jag, one of the advertisers here Fantasy World Hobbies is currently showing available inventory. Make the order for $75.00 or more and they pay std. ground transporattion too. Great folks to do businees with IMHO.

You cannot go wrong with the DP's for sure. I have a few and love them.

I have the cars you spoke of and the Dallara DP is on it's way to me. I enjoy driving each one and each one has it's own merits. I've had no problems breaking the guide on my Scaley 908 but I don't slam it into the turns and put all of the cars weight on the guide system either. A few of the guys I race with have broken the Scaley guides by over driving the car. I have however, broken the guide on my Slot.it R8c by over driving the car into the turns. Pick one, you've chosen a good pool to draw from.

Funny, all four of the cars you mention race(d) in different classes, in real life. And, at different times. The Peugeot 908 is a current LMP car, the Dallara is a current DP car, the McLaren is a GT1 car from a decade ago, and the Jaguar is an even older Group C car.

For magnetless racing, the Scalextric Peugeot would be in trouble without serious modifications, racing against the others. The McLaren is usually faster and easier to drive than the Jaguar, even though both are very similar Slot.It designs. The Racer is essentially a Slot. It, too, but I don't know where it fits in the speed spectrum.

For racing with magnets, I have no idea!

                They all serve their purpose!

                Josh,

The nice thing about the Dallara, McLaren, and Jag is they share drive train parts with your Castrol Jag. Every Sideways and McLaren has been great OTB mag or no-mag for me. These two have an offset motor pod that REALLY gets the rear of the car hunkered down. I find the Jags a bit harder to setup well, but still fun to drive.

I also have the Scaley 908s and have a blast with them. They do have a huge magnut, and the drive train and wheels leave a bit to be desired but they are still FUN. You can Slot.itize them and make them silly fast and smooth.

One last thought on the McLaren, the new Gulf's ship with a spare EVO 6.0 chassis and an extra pair of front wheels/tires. My OTB wheels and tires were perfect (50% are said to be out-of-round), well, now I have the spare parts to build up another rolling chassis....

Post what you get and what you think of it!

                Cheers!
                Paul
