  • Ninco/Scalextric Digital Analog Question

I am looking to buy a Ninco Digital car. I would like to run it on a Scalextric Sport Analog track and a Ninco Digital track. Can I put a switch in the car to have it go from analog to digital? If so, can someone point me in the right direction.

Also, how come my picture doesn't show up beside my name?

The Ninco chip and newer Ninco cars come with push-on lead wire terminals. You can also buy the lead wires with push-on terminals separately. So, unless you will be switching back and forth multiple times per day, I would suggest leaving the chip in place and just switching the lead wires. You could fabricate some kind of switching or "plug" mechanism to bypass the chip but it will not be simple and will require extra space inside the car.

Below is an example of a bypass plug:

I did this this because it uses the old Ninco chip. It takes almost as much time to unscrew the body and switch the plugs as it does to switch the push-on terminals with the newer stuff. The only down-side of the push-on terminals is that they can break. And the leads on the newer chips are quite fragile. A switch would preclude these problems but, as I said, would be complicated to install.
