  • Sloter Zytek versions

    I can't find much info on the Sloter Zyteks - anyone know if the different liveries have different specifications? I'm looking at Model: 9522 - the number 32 Gulf. Is it an older/newer model? Any disadvantage/advantage to this one vs. the others? Thanks.

    The #9522 is a newer model and the body is slightly different than the other Sloter Zytek cars. All the Sloter Zytek cars should offer similar performance.

      In case you're interested, I took a quick glance through some of our Advertiser's sites and this one seems to have a few of the Zyteks available.

        The cars look great but need some massaging to get the most out of them. The normal stuff , tires, slot-it gears. From what I've seen, they all have the same mabuchi style motors in their pod. good cars

          Have the Gulf car..Fly spec mabachi motor...odd size axles...marginal tires...it will take a long can but it should be a flat can...This is what it took to make mine a flyer... Fly 22k new style Raceing open long can motor,Slot it #11 pinion.#27 crown,rear axle,F-1 rear wheels,P3 rear tires and SCC aligned bushings. I had to do some grinding to get body float so a Flat 6 should be used ???$$$ I don't know..... but it is an impressive runner.

            Have three versions of this car. The older Creation livery and a red livery. Also the newer 32 Gulf. The same chassis is used on all three. The car is set up with a pod, but it doesn't float unless you do some grinding as suggested by Adjusdoor. The body is so low and slim that there is little to no room. Make sure that the motor clears the cockpit. I replaced my motors with NC-6's that I had on hand. Strangely, the red car that I bought used got me running no-mag.

              There are six different liveries, 5 with the original body and one with the newer body being the Gulf livery. The "old" ones are number 9502, 9503, 9508, 9523 and 9524. If you search the news subforum on "Sloter Zytec" you'll find some treads with pictures. I also remember an article from Dave Kennedy(?) comparing the two body forms somewhere on the forum.

              Besides "these ready to run" Zytecs Sloter also produced a "Racing" white kit with aluminum hubs etc. It was limited to a thousand but the kit can still be found and for little money (about 30 euro) since a lot of Spanish brands are clearing their warehouses.

              The Sloter Racing kits for the 312PB and Lola T290 used components from MBSlot, I have heard that the components in the Zytec kit were supplied bij SCX thus being SCX pro parts.

                The Gulf livery of the Zytek has a chassis that's about 3/16" shorter than the other liveries. The Gulf doesn't have the overhang in the back, and based on a couple of drivers' experiences in a Sloter regional race last year, the Gulf handled a bit better. YMMV.

                  Thanks for everyone's input. I know this car runs nicely on our club tracks - mostly 70-90' mdf tracks.
