I have been looking for Mega-G+ JEL-CLAWS tires.
Does anyone know if JEL-CLAWS make tires for the Mega-G+ chassis, or are the Mega-G tires.... the same as the Mega-G+ tires?

    Thanks.

I believe that Mega G and Mega G+ cars use the same tires.

Jel Claws are made front & back for LifeLike, TYCO, and Tomy/AFX; they even make the "hollow tire" for the weird "double internal rib" wheel that came on the Super G+ chassis. IF you are wanting to keep original wheels, and running on plastic sectional track, they are a viable choice, as the cost is reasonable....

Note that you need to run on a CLEAN track; otherwise, you pick up every bit of dust and debris you have, and handling will degrade accordingly. Cleanup is simple: warm water & dish detergent (tire cleaners will degrade the tire)......

There are other notable push on tires (such as Super Tires), or higher end stuff like silicone-coated sponge already wheel mounted; but IF you are making that first tire change from stock, give them a try, you might be pleasantly surprised........

Thanks everyone so I'm guessing that the Mega-g tires are the same as Mega-G+.

Mega G/G+ tire diameters are the same. The current Mega G+ rears seem a bit better (grip-wise); but the first change most everyone makes to upgrade these cars IS a tire change. Yo DO have room to lower front/rear with slightly smaller diameter tires on platic sectional track; more if running custom track w/electric strips, as they are flatter than the rails on plastic track.......

IIRC, Jel Claws are made from EPDM, the same material as your car window gaskets, so i find it hard to believe that tire cleaners would 'degrade' them. anything that would would likely attack your fingers (or the track surface) as well. (RichD is our resident chemist, so we could always ask him.)

aside from that, i tried 'em myself- they're kind of in between stock rubber/urethanes and silicones. i always loved it when some of my friends ran these as my cars with super tires would literally run rings around them. price difference is a small fraction of the performance delta.

Thank you Speedynh for your vote of confidence. Jel Claws are indeed made of EPDM. I just checked this database: Chemical Compatibility Database from Cole-Parmer (coleparmer.com)
Mild solvents like most alcohols are OK and so is ammonia, keep away from ethylenrdichloride, carbontetrachloride, naphtha (lighter fluid) and any type of Freon. Any good surface cleaner or dishwashing liquid should remove anything that can't be removed with tape.
I have only tested Jel Claws on a vintage Indy car using the Aurora Hot Rod chassis. I got the same results as Speedynh. There can be batch to batch differences with the stock rubber tires that you would not see with silicone tires or Jel Claws. Some rubber tires will have more grip if you treat them with 3-in-1 oil or NSR tire conditioner. The easiest way to clean silicone tires is by rolling them on sticky tape, I can't recall if that works as well with Jel Claws.

We aren't allowed silicones at our club so what's next best, Jel Claws?

An HO club that doesn’t allow silicones?

You could try urethane tires, those should have more grip and be more stable than rubber tires. Super Tires has urethane tires to fit just about any HO car.

Okay thanks again everyone for all your comments and information. All this info should help keep my cars running decently. Also I will look into buying the other brand tires they sound like they would be fun to run also.
And remember this is only a home hobby track that I run my cars on.

                            Thanks everyone.

Super Tires has both silicone and urethane tires. Silicone tires are the most popular type of replacement HO tires. The ultimate HO tires are the silicone on sponge type that come mounted on CNC machined wheels. Those are very expensive and can also be rather fragile, tires like those are mostly for fanatics.
