  • AFX Barrier ?

Does Anyone know how good the AFX barrier guardrail works? Just wondering how well they stay stuck to the track.
And how many times can you reuse the barrier before the sticky part wears off?

    Thanks.

i have not used the new ones so this doesnt directly ans your question but this might help i have used the old orignal ones from aurora which came with little plastic clips which worked well you still see those for sale from time to time they dont go for real big money and you would have lots of clips also i have atteched those barriers with contact glue which works and you can still remove them later dont see why that wont work on new ones if you get some of the new ones i would to know how they wok too

monte ss Thanks I just ordered those older ons you said that came with clips they are NOS in a box. I only ordered one because I didn't know how well it will work.
Still waiting for it to arrive. But according to your input I believe I'll be ordering more. They are pretty cheap.

If I get more information on the new ones I'll let you if I order and how well they work.

      Thanks again.

The newer race barriers work pretty well. They stick well to the plastic AFX track, yet peel off easily. If you do take them off, cover the sticky part with something to keep dust and dirt off and they should reapply many times. You can also wash them with warm water and mild soap to get the "stick" to work again again. The barriers are also heavy flexible vinyl and are very difficult to tear or rip.

I have never seen the new barriers. I liked the old ones. At one point I cut long mylar strips to the length I needed (reduced number of joints), then printed "sponsor logos" on sheets of label stock, then stuck them to the mylar to create my own barriers. I found that the guard strip that comes on many band saw blades (u-shaped plastic channel) can be cut into segments and used to clip the barriers to the track. The photo shows some of the custom strips, along with some supermarket shelf price insert strips (the red barriers) that can do the same job. Good Luck!

20210609_192946_Film4.jpgThese are my homemade barriers they work okay. I am waiting for my New Old Stock Aurora AFX barriers to arrive in the mail.I might purchase the new AFX barriers they sound like they work pretty well.
On the other post where it says show us pictures of your track I have pictures of my layout showing all the barriers that I built. Like I said they work okay but I'm sure the new ones that arrive will work much better.
