Love this new MKIV !

I have a “detail” question. Where did they put the fuel in on the real car? I don’t see an access cap like on the GT40 body. Or am I missing it?

There is a small flap in front of the right hand door that had the fuel filler below it.
The AFX model doesn’t have the panel scribe. Interestingly, an old T-Jet resin MkIV I have does have the panel scribe.

Gary, They are missing not only the fuel filler door, but two oil filler doors (on the right & left rear fenders)......

In the 60's, most prototypes & Group 7 Open Sports /Can Am cars ran their fuel in the sponsons on either side of the cockpit, between the wheels. Sometimes these included a small tank under the driver's legs; they were interconnected through one-way valves, so the fuel would go from one tank to the other, then to the engine. The early Ford GT40's had to be filled from BOTH SIDES of the car (Ferraris and even the Chaparral 2D / 2F were this was too).

In 1966-67, Ford (in a never ending battle to cut pits top time) revised the fuel tanks to ONLY refill from the right side of the cockpit, between the windshield edge and the right front fender. This would fill BOTH tanks on either side of the cockpit, and eliminate the need to run from one side to the other, as the rules limited the number of "fuel guys".

My Exoto 1/18 Diecast of the # 98 Daytona winning Mk.II of Miles/ Ruby illustrates this quite well; with an opening fuel cap on the right, while the other is plated over.....
