Those are nice McLeagle and Surtees Lola makeovers. Pattos decals? I make both a 1968 and a 1969 McLeagle sheet, but haven't done the Surtees cars.

Cool! I believe that Cobra(mite) used Lancer bodies. The new (wider) BHR Lola T70 and McLaren M6 are basically widened versions of the old Lancer ones.

Paul, I'm loving those Lexan McLaren & Lola T-70 bodies! When is somebody going to produce these in plastic or cast-resin for the Mega G chassis , along with the top competitor from 1965, the Chaparral 2? Oh, G-A-R-Y (Fast).........!
The BHR bodies are based on the 1.5" wheelbase of the original Lance versions, but come untrimmed, so they might fit Mega-G chassis. What is the wheelbase on those? BHR also offers mounting clips for several chassis. He's got a bunch of stuff listed on ebay right now:

Me, Too! Waterslides are tedious to apply (particularly on the inside of Lexan bodies) but the results are worth it.

Brian Redmond (three time straight champ in Formula 5000, driving for Carl Haas/Jim Hall) speaks in a YouTube video of the first year they went with full bodywork and called it "Can Am". After driving this car in practice prior to the first race of the year, Hall asked him what he wanted (the car was already 3 seconds under the lap record). Brian asked him to take some downforce off the front of the car (to lighten the steering). The car subsequently flipped over a rise, and crashed upside down off the track, severely injuring him, and putting him out for the season.

That was in a Lola T333CS, the bespoke 5-liter Can-Am version of the T300/T330/T332 Formula 5000 car. The Maxx car looks to be the T530, which was designed from the start as a single-seat Can-Am car.

C_Spray, thanks for clarifying. I followed the first Can Am series from 1966 to the year Shadow won a shortened series ( in I think 1973). The Formula 5000 and subsequent renaming of the series to "Can Am" wasn't on my radar. I had to learn subsequently of Haas & Hall's success with Brian Redmond in F-5000 after the fact.....

                      • 74 was the last year for the "original" Can Am . A friend and I were lucky enough to be at Watkins Glen for the FG1 race and got to see the Can Am "demonstration" race between Oliver and Follmer in the DN-4 Shadows . Even though there were only the two of them they put on quite a show . The acceleration they showed coming off of Turn 1 through the dip and up into the Esses was beyond impressive .

                          • P.S. don't ever , ever , ever make the mistake of being caught standing with your back about 4 feet from the back of an M20 when they fire it off . You may end up sort of laying on top of the other car you were looking at at that moment ...

These cars may or may not have been "fun" for the drivers, but they certainly were a thrill. When Roger Penske finally got to drive the almighty 1973 Porsche 917/30 in 2001, he told me "You better have your hat on straight when you go to the power." Roger was a very accomplished driver in his day, so you can only imagine...
