  • Here is a few photos of some Can Am that I initially stretched out to be mounted on the Tyco pan chassis. Here is a finished McLaren. The McLaren is resin casted. Also, the two in-process I started. The Ferrari 612, and the 312PB. This is what they look like on a Gen1 Mega G chassis. They don't fit right on the newer Mega G+ chassis.

    • As you can see from Gary's photos, he has really improved on the recast of the Faller 2F I got him to cast for me several years ago. This improvement is in three areas: 1. the 2F was made wider either side of the cockpit. This allows wider wheels/tires to be fitted; 2. The cockpit/roof area was enlarged. This required the sacrifice of my spare 2D body, as this was grafted on the newly widened sides. The result is this will now fit several chassis, where mine really only fit the Mega G 1.5; 3. New, bigger wing, mounted on taller/stronger brass strips. More realistic, stronger (in case of a crash). Gary also cleaned up small details (rear tail panel, rear window deck mesh, fuel filler doors, front oil cooler opening/exit) that were not on the original Faller 2F as well.

Gary's first run of 20 sold almost immediately; his second run of 20 is on sale now. I can hardly wait for that 2A roadster......

      • Sorry for posting these again but I want show others following this thread what Gary’s 2F looks like with the windows replaced with clear material. The car just looks great especially on my scenic track. I am looking forward to more of his bodies. Gary - how about a Ford J?

        • Mark, you ought to take photos of the Faller and FastBodies 2F side-by-side?

The RTRs have the metal clip installed.

But if you buy a body on it's own, to fit to an existing TR3 you own, you'll need the metal magnet clip too - part number 12-0024B.

It has a lower profile than the standard clip.....

Thank you. That makes it clear. I see that the standard clip is plastic and taller.

              • This thread is one of my favorites here.

Finally had some time to work on a couple of Can Am cars I'd been planning on. These are copies of the real 917-10 cars driven by Jody Scheckter and Hurley Haywood back in 1973. Did up the decals myself. I think they came out pretty good.

I hadn't seen any done with these liveries before and thought they'd be fun to do.

                • WOW! What a pleasant surprise to see a new posting to this thread I started back in 2013. Mini Mojo / Karl, that is an impressive pair of AFX Porsche 917-10s; what chassis are you running under them?

Since it has been a while since I posted the cars I started this thread with, here is a "group shot" of those cars. The TYCOs are all on 440x2 chassis; the AFX are on SRT chassis::

I love that "Brumos Porsche" livery on that 917-10 you did; I had planned one for myself, but after painting it up, both sets of decals crumbled upon application! I decided to strip the paint, and make a total new livery:

Just a "fantasy" livery; but enough of these were raced at the time in Can Am & European Interserie (and now vintage racing), it does not matter anymore. The "Tropicana" Porsche 917K has been modified from the SRT to a Super G+ w/Wizzard Aluminum independent front end, Viper Rear end upgrade, and a Viper "Low Rider" body clip. Both 917-10s ride the SRT chassis (the flat sides/top allow it to fit the can motor configuration well.......

                  • The new liveries look great Karl! Are those just standard 917-10 bodies painted white with the added decals?

I can't remember if mine has the curved front or the squared off front.

                    • Hi CoachD, thanks. Yes, those are the standard "square front" bodies painted white with the decals added. I also have one or two of the "rounded front" 917-10 bodies around. I might try to do a Mark Donohue 917-30 with one of those some day with a bit of body work. I'd use the Pattos decals for that one.

The chassis on these cars are the AFX Magnatractions. Most of my cars are in the "pancake" family although I'm toying with the idea of some single seat Can Am cars with the Jag Hobbies in-line chassis.
