All Ferraris are beautiful, the 330P4 (1/1 and for that matter, this one) can only be described as...sensuous .

Found the 330 Spyder pics. I cut up one of the coupes and re-sculpted the deck lid and c-pillars.

SouthShoreRacing, thanks for sharing; they look great! I was wondering when we would see some Can Am racers in Lexan.

Given that it will be 1 day short of 6 weeks between the last post on this and our race , on Saturday MARC will run it's season opener out here in the woods of Thompson CT . The body theme for the GJet race is Can Am . Tomorrow I will post the first set of photos with more to come Saturday evening .
I have 8 finished , converted , hard bodies for the GJet and about the same number in Lexan to cover my team and still have a few loaners . Saturday should bring 8 to 10 more to photo and add after the race .
              Can Am heaven !

Durf, thanks for keeping this post alive. I was somewhat surprised that there weren't more pictures posted of Group 7 cars; I just figured that body style was a really popular one, for both home racers who collected the "hardbody" styles from AFX/Tomy and Tyco, as well as Lexan examples. Looking forward to your photos.....

I don't have many Can-Ams in my collection but looking at what everyone has posted so far I wish I did!

I do have the Rokar Manta and three Porsche 917s although I think they are the Le Mans version being the AFX coupe ones.

Some lovely looking cars being posted. The Mexican McLarens look like wrestler masks which I think is an awesome way of painting these cars! Very nice collection.

                    Gareth,
The 917 and some other FIA sports prototypes usually get a pass for double dipping at the Watkins Glen event mentioned on the previous page.

As I threatened in September , before my personal train went off the tracks for a while I promised some photos . I have some Can Am car pictures I added to my folder . We have run a Can Am themed Lexan bodied GJet race here the last 2 years . We have had a bunch of different cars , some of which are pictured here .

There is also a photo for 8 Can Am hard bodies I have converted to fit the GJet chassis . I am still working on the 9th as so far a source for the fender flares has escaped me . Most are AFX but there is a Russell in the mix along with a Tycopro McLaren M8F The Tycopro cars are a little narrower than the AFX . It is enough of a difference that the M8B doesn't work because it doesn't cover the tires. The M8F is wider in the rear so it just works . For the front the car has to use the o-ring style Gjet wheels so the inner hubs can be shortened a bit to pull the front tires into the fenders . You can do the same thing with the front of a Tycopro Chaparral 2E but the rest of the car has to be converted into the "truck fendered" 2G to cover the rears .

This is what we have so far . There may be more photos from this year's race . If so there are more cars !

Great Can Am Stuff; Great Album!

Durf, I liked your pictures, but they were so small (eyesight not what it used to be), I went into your album for bigger pics, and it was worth the time! Nice collection of not only Can Am, but open wheel & NASCAR as well.
Where did you get the Lexan Can Am bodies? Some of the "hard bodies" looked like cast resin (McLaren M8D); am I correct, or did you modify the original plastic ones? Eyeballing a couple of the Can Am roadsters, it appears you went with either BSRT G3 or Super G+ chassis with cut down body clips on the hard plastic bodies; am I seeing this correctly? Great stuff......

Thanks Speed ! I have a lot of fun messing with this stuff . Some of it comes out well and some could be better . I do like the single seater stuff and have a number of replica paint scheme cars like the Penske F1 car in the Gallery . Some of the other cars had specific purposes like the STP Lotus and the Schlitz car . The Lotus is a car I built for myself with the intention of trying to win a "Best Appearing" award . That one started life as a resin re-pop of the original TJet Grand Prix car . It has a driver's head from a Tyco Chaparral exhaust bundle from the Aurora Repco Brabham and a bunch of stuff I made . I modified the body and windshield painted it all up and decaled it with a Patto's set .
The Schlitz car is a fantasy livery taken from Schlitz's El Camino show car . It was done for Tom Bussman of Schitzerland (seeing a theme here ?) Raceway to use in the US GJet Grand Prix . Custom decals by Nathaniel Woodworth (duhb on that evil place)

All the Can Am hard bodies are plastic . The McLaren is a Tyco Pro body . You are correct many of the bodies are mounted with some portions of or all of the "English" clip . They will all fit a Super G Plus or BSRT Chassis . There are two I believe that will also take the narrow (formula car style) TOMY Turbo chassis .

The Lexan Bodies are a mix. Some of them came from Scale Auto and some are from Host . I believe all the ones you see in the photos are still available except The M12 and M20 McLarens .

The album actually has only a tiny sample of the stuff I have done . I am constantly doing up lexan bodies for us to race and hard body stuff for Tjets and occasionally G Jets . I also did about a dozen and a half hard bodies for the Spec Stock race at the Hopra Nats this year . That attempt led me down another path while we worked out weights , sizes , and mounting methods . It was educational , useful , fun , and successful in the end though.

                          Thanks,
                          Durf

This one was raffled off last year for charity at the Gjet Grand Prix.
