Still so cool. That Alfa was my very 1st car. A set left by Santa on Christmas day 1970.

Your PC is probably alright. My photo didn't post either.

This is my Jo Siffert STP Can Am Porsche - the one that just stood there - to the great shock of the team bosses - completely in bright red one morning, after Jo had asked for permission for "just a small sponsor deal with STP" the evening before...

You all have a nice sunday!

Stephan, that's a sweet job you did on the Siffert STP Porsche! Those mirrors you added to the fenders look like the ones from the AFX Ferrari 312PB or Ferrari Daytona. Am I correct, or are they from another source? Like the Marcos wheels as well. What chassis have you mounted that body on?

              Thank you, Speedhoppy!

The cars sits on a SRT, yes these are BSRT Marcos Wheels, what does not come trough in the picture are the foam tires. The mirrors come from an old Aurora AFX Lola T-330 body, whose air intake you'll see here in a few days on another Can Am project of mine...

Thanks, el gecko! I am still having issues posting pictures / editing posts; Alan posted my picture for me (that's why the wording doesn't match the picture). I have the companion McLaren M8B Lexan body that came with the original AFX "Hop-Up" kit, but haven't painted yet. That Ferrari is mounted on my "G-Jet" modified with grey "2 dot" chassis magnets and a Wizzard independent front wheel/axle combo, and at 22 volts, is very fast, with great "stick", and the smoothest pinion / crown gear mesh I've ever experienced. Body was hand painted on the inside in Italian Red; details like engine stacks, driver, etc. on the outside.

Nicely done! I have the remnants of a Hop Up kit with the McLaren shell, but don't know what happened to my 612. I know I had it so it may show up again someday. If you put the Ferrari or McLaren lexans next to the AFX hardshell bodies of the same model, it's apparent that they used the hard body as a buck to vac-form the lexan versions. One day I'll paint mine up and mount them. The G-Jet is an excellent choice for them, but I might put them on an original Aurora G-Plus.

Since I started this thread, and posted this car today on another posting, I think it should also be here:
AFX Lexan McLaren M12 (customer version of factory M6B), mounted on a BSRT "G-Jet", modified with chassis magnets, Wizzard independent spinning front end, and BSRT Gold-plated "Ski Shoe" pickups.

Adding another entry: Porsche 917-30, repainted in Tamiya spray Lacquer. "Racing Blue" and Gold (here paired with the earlier repainted 917-10 protoype, that Tomy called an "810"):

Like my other Porsche "Can Am" cars, this one is mounted on the Tomy SRT chassis, with Super Tires being used.

                          My Can Am customs

Here's a Jackie Stewart Lola T260 I made up alongside a Jackie Oliver white shadow. Both are AFX bodies but the Lola is pretty heavily modified.

to both rholmesr & C&RORacing, thanks for posting those great examples; I'm so pleased that we have continual postings to keep this thread alive.

The real Shadow MKII went through three color changes in one year: started all-black; went to black sides/white top (how I painted mine); finished all-white. A lot of work went into that Lola T260: adding the "cowcatcher" front wing; moving the rear wing further behind the body. That must make for nervous moments on the racetrack!

What chassis are you two running under those bodies?

                                Speedhoppy:
Those are both AFX magna tractions. We have a couple different series of races here in STL running magna traction cars. I have run both of those bodies in a race. And I won both the races too. But yeah, I was really nervous about the Lola and that one is probably retired, given I have 20+ hours in making it, I might cry if it got broke. With the wing out in front it sort of understeers a bit and might actually be a bit of an advantage.

The wings are actually on the lola pretty good. You can't tell too much in the photo but they are both held on with .020" piano wire.

There was a white shadow with black wing that I based the paint job on. It's on this page:
18064 Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the original SCCA Canadian-American Challenge Cup. This series, which ran from 1966 to 1974 for Group 7 sports cars has been a lifelong fascination of mine, and something I've studied from a young age. The Can-Am was really the ultimate formula, which, for much of its life, was not hindered or strangled by endless rules designed to make every car on the grid essentially identical in order to fabricate close, controlled racing. Indeed, it was

The Lola T260 went thru a bunch of changes. That cowcatcher wing sort of sums up what the CanAm series was all about. Jackie S says "I need more down force!" So the team comes up with "well why don't we stick this wing way out in the front, offset the rear wing backward to offset that, and let's see what happens!" and a day or two later there he is out on the track trying it out. From what I read about it, it didn't really do much to help. But it sure looks cool!!
