  • Lightest 4gear body

Anyone racing 4gear cars? Any suggestions as to what is a good lite-weight body to race( not a dragster or truck)?
do any magnatraction bodies work on 4gears?

We've had a blast racing AW 4gears with old AFX Can AM or Lemans bodies.
Everyone has some of these broken bodies laying around. Just take the back off for clearance.

Auto World makes a Batmobile body for the 4 gear chassis.
It's fairly light, and sits lower than most bodies made for that type chassis.

The Four Gears are great fun! They have their own charm. Seems like the Catwoman was clone of the AFX Grand Am, when AW lost their minds and literally went Looney Tunes. Technically a its funny car. Depends on your definition of a dragster, I reckon
              .
Make sure all the wheels and tires are ROUND, not just kinda round. Shoes typically need some toe up to ski properly. Last but not least, a gear lapping forwards and backwards. Knock the traction magnets out of the AW's and bang some doors!

I’ve changed stock rear tires with slip on silicon tires.. need to replace plastic guide pin with a long steel guide pin. Mite even need to replace front end with an independent front end(on the short wheelbase position). I’m going to replace the brushes and try to find better pickup shoes and adjust them. Finally, I need to find a liter body...(that fits on the short wheelbase, and I kind of like the traction magnet effect.)

Viper Scale Racing is now offering parts for magnatraction cars. They have front ends, springs, pickup shoes and guide pins.

Sounds like a winner! If only they sold bodies, too....
looked at 4gear bodies by jimmy flintstone and 660slots. Not quite what I’m looking for, but close.

If you want to go with light bodies, you could try lexan. You would have to modify the chassis to mount them, but they are the lightest option.

The lightest plastic 4 gear body that I have found is the AFX Vega funny car.

Saw a couple different versions of a Vega funny car... a bit pricey on the bay...
i am a Chevy guy so I’m leaning towards a vette, mako shark or ‘57 chevy kind of body...
Lexan would be a final option

The Vega funny car is made for an AFX 3 gear chassis, not 4 gear chassis.
It has a separate mount for the front axle.

AW also made a 'Cuda & a Mustang body for the 4 gear chassis, but they might be hard to find because they came out several years ago.

The 4 gear chassis is nice as it has 2 traction magnets pockets in it.
Pop 1 out to get a little less downforce if you want to experiment a little.

I can weigh some bodies & post results after I finish house work.
Always thought being retired meant having more time for hobbies, not less!

Looking on Ebay, I see a body for a 3-gear that folks call a Vega but looks like a stretched Gremlin to me. But there are also 4-gear bodies that I think are a Vega. Isn't this a Vega?
