Tim, I will have to try to make some custom pins for the AFX style pancakes. I'd prefer the longer pins and the blades can be a bugger to reslot during a marshalled race.

The thought also occurs to me that the smoother Viper track probably is less sensitive to pin length since sectional track is bumpy and I have had a car bounce out of a slot. (Especially with traction mag free AW TJ if I haven't shrink wrapped the shoe travel.)

Btw Maxtrax measures in the range of .160 to .164.

For AFX (MT, xtraction, etc) guide setups, is there a prebuild longer pin option available (vs making our own?)

I read that AW Super III pins are longer? Do they fit?

What about: Artin, AFX G+MAG HO Slot Car STEEL GUIDE ...they look longer.

Bob Beers sells extra long guide pins that are plastic not metal so they are easy to trim to the lenght you want

Bob Beers does not have a website if I recall correctly, you have to send him an e-mail. I can PM his address if you need it.
I use Tomy guide pins with Aurora A/FX and JL/AW X-Traction cars. Those snap-in guide pins were probably intended to work with the original Aurora Model Motoring track that has shallow slots compared to the later Tomy AFX track. Some makers offer longer than standard guide pins to fit their cars.

Scale Engineering offers an extended length metal (stainless steel) guide pin for the AFX/MT/XT chassis. P/N 164-114.

It's quite long, so you likely need a way to trim it.
