And woe betide any FIA directors or F1 sponsors or any of the business people who try to prohibit this. The smartest thing that companies and sponsors can do is to provide all the support they can, or they'll end up on the wrong side of history.
Are we allowed to discuss politics here? While inequalities are not political issues, BLM is a political group.

Hamilton was wearing the same shirt Saturday at P3 or Qualifying. Nobody said a word. Then it reappeared Sunday after his win.

He messed up, but the FIA could of done a better job too.

They told him to pit I realize. A rare mistake by Merc. It should not effect his 7th championship I reckon.

Fair question; and from what I can see in the current Rules, there's nothing specifically forbidding discussion about politics, religion, etc. That stuff that clearly doesn't belong on a board about slot cars. So I may have erred.

That said, SCI has deliberately hosted links and comments etc about a lot of 1:1 racing, from NASCAR to Indy to LeMans to F1 over the years. Which makes it hard to ignore the message being sent by Hamilton, and by the FIA, as part of this social dialogue. (Gee, I might have gotten away with that.)

But best to focus on the racing. A couple weeks off, and then ... Russia!

        • The old forum had a no politics rule, but I think that was more to stop a GOP hardliner and dem supporter going at it, with no link to slot cars or 1:1 racing.

But Hamiton has brought politics into F1, at a time the world in general is re-assessing whether or not brushing injustice under the carpet hasn't really worked.

Lets see where all this goes. The FIA will probably try to handle Hamilton, who is in no mood to be handled. I think discussing it in an F1 context going forward is fine.

It was. But their reaction time was actually very solid, given where the FIA chose to bury the notification. They were faster than most, but Hamilton was so far ahead their instruction to stay out came too late.

Pretty sure Hamilton and Merc already have systems in place so such a thing never happens again. This Masi guy bothers me, he seems to be putting ego ahead of safety. I had my issues with Charlie, but he had no ego at all. That is why he was one of the few that other people had no bad word to say about (other than drivers in races being hot-headed, which can be excused).

            • Lewis was 13 seconds ahead of the second placed car at the time, of course the rest had time, also given Merc pit crew were 100% ready for a pit stop.
Anyway, in a few races time hopefully it'll all be irrelevant.

              • I haven't had a chance to look more closely, but in Masi's defence of the events at Monza he states the the gaps in the barriers that are not for placing cars within are marked with a narrow orange bands, with an emphasis on the word narrow. This suggests the same color is used in the actual places where you can place the cars, and Magnussen thought he'd found one.

He hadn't, and a perfect storm screwed Hamilton.

I gather most people did not like this track? Perhaps I am wrong, but would anyone have preferred to watch a Monte Carlo race?

                  • I think you'll find most people loved this track.

                    ... Monte Carlo?

I thought it fantastic myself. The red flags were a bit much but still I want to see it raced again.

Historic Monte Carlo is beloved here at SCI. I like a good race to watch over history.

The track is brilliant to watch F1 cars lapping solo, and the surroundings are beautiful (Tuscany is my favourite place on earth) - but it is narrow and there is only one, DRS-assisted, place to overtake.

The name has changed, you are now in "The Paddock"
named after the pit area at Paddock Bend Brands Hatch International Raceway Kent England.

Yes this was written in the Paddock section as that is where originally topics got of topic so to speak. But applies to all of SCI.

Please read the new mission statement for this part of SCI.

I want to keep this area a place where you can talk to friends and racing buddies after a long Day at the Races.

Sex, Politics and Religion have no place here.

Here is the place where racing mates of different creeds and colors can get together and chat about the things they enjoy.

Now if I could only find the mate who told me you can take the chicane a Snetterton flat out in top on a TZ 350, I would have a few choice words for him.

But let's remember where we are, if it must get heated take it off the board, private email or even other sites dedicated to the bigger things in life.

We are here to race, please remember it is your hobby to, start a trend race a friend.

This still stands in every part of SCI. No political, religious etc posts PERIOD Please this is a Forum about Slot Car Racing etc. Try Facebook if you want an absolute right vs left argument.

                          5minutes or longer!!

No Sex or Drugs but Rock and Roll is OK..

What's this all in aid of? There's no argy-bargy, heavy political posturing, sex or religion being discussed here...also no heated debates

The only things seen in this thread are a reflection of events, with 2020 being a somewhat weird year all round stirring a mixture of allsorts together is becoming the new norm I'm afraid whether we like it or not!

                            • It is in aid of not getting into a political sideshow.

There are political posts all over Facebook and many other places, and I have always stated please none of that here.

Nico incorrectly stated that was not the case on SCI I want to head off anyone going down that tunnel here.
while a justifiable subject to discuss, debate etc please not here.

                              Please.

                              • That is going to make talking about F1 going forward pretty difficult. Even a picture of a Mercedes W11 can be construed as a political statement.
